Mom stared at me, wondering if I was ever going to talk to her but I just continued eating the slightly soggy pasta. I could feel her eyes on me and the silence was deafening. But I refused to break the silence with false words. I wasn't in the mood to act happy, or even relieved to be back here. Because I wasn't, not even in the slightest.
'She feels terrible, just look at her eyes. So so sad. So...anxious.'
yes but she deserves it, I thought, Talking to Them.
'That she does'
I finally managed to finish the pasta and made eye contact with her, but didn't say a word.
Xander sat beside her, holding her hand as if she was the fragile one who needed support. And you would think, that they'd try to make me feel better. Not that I felt anything this minuet but the gesture would've been nice. Lily had decided to go stay at one of her friends house before I came home, because she needed time to herself before she saw me. At least that's what mother told me after she had hugged me and cried the moment I got home.
Lavender perfumed the room and I closed off my sense of smell immediately. I hated that smell now, just as much as I had missed it. I looked around, taking off the coat Xander had let me borrow. Mom didn't hesitate to take it from my hands.
"Are you hungry? Tired? I didn't change your room so everything should be where you left it. I can cook you something if you're hungry, I would have cooked sooner but I thought you were coming in tomorrow."
"They let her out a day earlier." Xander said, eyeing me as I looked around. The same pictures hung from the same places three years ago, the walls were still the same coffee brown. Everything seemed as if I 2)6 had just left yesterday.
I'm guessing she would have been better, more happy if I had embraced her back. But, even if I was to stay here and play nice until it was time to leave, I just couldn't stop my hatred for her.
Dad was somewhere lost in the woods, hunting with the rest of the pack or whatever and I haven't seen him yet.
"Want more?" Mom asked me quietly and I simply shrugged, leaning back in my seat and studying her.
She was still the same, her black hair braided back, her green eyes sad with a under layer of anxiety. But She wore the prettiest dress I've ever seen her wear. As if she was going to a ball or something.
"I like your dress." I told her, gesturing to her long burgundy chiffon dress studded with small little fake diamonds. Or real ones. I couldn't be sure since it could be either or considering the wealth that my parents had accumulated.
She gave a surprised little smile, looking down at her dress and patting Xander's hand that clutched to her left one. "You're father gave it to me last year for our anniversary."
"Going somewhere?"
Xander cleared his throat and glanced at mom. "There is a party tonight, outside of town."
Hum, should have known. They were always going out to "parties" before I was locked away. Charity events, they called them but in truth they were fancy meetings with other pack leaders who drank and talked about what to do with the more...dangerous rogues. Before I left, I tried to not think of what they did to them but I knew. I had read about it one day in one of dads journals when he wasn't home. They killed them, tortured them and laughed. It was all for amusement.
Come to think of it, they are no better than the monsters i'm planning to hunt down and slaughter one by one. I don't know if my parents enjoy it but, considering how many of these parties they've attended, I can make a pretty good guess.
