Kai and Jamie didn't know what to do they had been in this place for at least two days now. The scientist, as they now knew him as, was just watching them. It was extremely awkward but not as bad as how he treated the other creatures.
There was one boy who's cage was fairly close to Jamie and Kai's. He was a bird Humanimal that was tested on more than enough especially in the two days Kai and Jamie were their.
He didn't look to be anything special, just a normal boy. But he always had his back toward the two, hiding in the shadows.
"Do you think he's so badly injured he doesn't want to show his face?" Asked Jamie afraid he was in more trouble then they were. Kai was thinking the same thing, a poor skinny owl Humanimal. He was a white owl one of the very few still around. A very rare species of Hunanimal who were one of the first to get captured by the humans because of their incredible knowledge.
"I think he might be" Kai said sadly looking at the bird.
"I'm not a statue, I can hear you" said the bird suddenly his voice sounding like sand paper. This was the first time in a long time he had talked to anyone.
"We're sorry we just thought you were hurt" said Jamie holding onto the bars of the cage looking at the boy. He shifted his weight back and forth hugging his legs tighter.
"I am fine, I have been here since a baby, I'm use to it" he said in a strained tone, sounding angry.
"Please, we just want to help you"
"Help me? HELP ME?!" Screeched the owl boy "HOW CAN YOU HELP ME IF YOU TWO ARE STUCK IN HERE TOO"
"We... We... We.."
"Exactly" he said sadly, a silence eerily filling the room.
"Please we just want to be friends"
"I don't need friends, nobody wants to be friends after they see my face" he says placing his head in between his knees.
"Why would you base friendship on looks?" Jamie said sadly looking at the concrete floor. "You know before I met Kai, neither of us had friends. Nobody liked us either, we are still each other's only friends" she said a tear rolling down her face. Kai came up behind her, hugging her.
"Please even if you just tell us your name, we don't have to see your face" Kai said. There was a silence only the noises of the creatures in the other room were heard. "Ok we're sorry for bothering you. Jamie come on food will-"
"Sakaida" said the boy interrupting Kai
"What?" Said Jamie looking up wiping snot from her nose
"My name is Sakaida" said the boy lifting up his head "do... Do you really want to be friends"
Jamie nodded her head ferociously "yes" she quietly said staring at the boys back.
"If... If we are f-friends do... Maybe I can.. Show you my face" he said thinking it'll he them out of his hair for wanting to be friends.
"That would be nice" said Kai, Jamie nudging him in the belly a little for the sarcasm.
"Can we?" Jamie asked almost desperately
"Fine" the boy moved to the front of the cage slowly turning around.
"Horrifying aren't I?" He said looking at the ground. He was completely void of any color, even his skin. He had three eyes all of which were completely white except a small black dot in the center. His hair was spiky and covered most of his forehead except were his third eye was, it was a white ball of mess. Instead of arms, like most bird Humanimals, he only had wings at his side for his arms. And his legs were completely covered in white feathers, his feat like and owls.
"You're.. You're" started Jamie
"I know... Ugly"
"Awesome" said Jamie at the same time Sakaida said ugly.
"What.. What do you mean?"
"You're a pure white, have three eyes and have amazing hair?!" Said Jamie "you look completely outstanding" Sakaida was taken a back not knowing what to say. Just before anything else was said the door started to unlock. Sakaida went back to the corner, his new friends, that's ironic, the people who he was suppose to hurt were now his new friends.
