THIRD PERSON's POV:

Y/N had been through three relationships already, her first dating experience taking place in high school. She and her high school girlfriend had a healthy breakup when they had learned that they would be going off to study at different colleges, and knowing for them that long-distance wouldn't work.

A year later, Y/N entered into a relationship with another woman, only to be hurt when she discovered her partner had been cheating on her with an ex-boyfriend. The infidelity caused the end to their relationship, and would haunt Y/N, adding to her insecurities.

After that relationship had ended, Y/N had decided it was best to focus working on her mental health, believing it would prevent history from repeating itself. Therapy helped for the most part, and after two years, feeling more mentally stable and prepared, Y/N entered into another relationship. She thought this time everything would be different... but it wasn't. It ended just the same.

She saw it with her own eyes; her girlfriend in bed with an unknown man. She was devastated. It was as if these two years of her life were wasted; all the progress she made emotionally and mentally in therapy from her last relationship was gone in an instant. She was back to square one, heartbroken and hopeless about relationships, and love all over again.

Her insecurities were on overload; Y/N was terrified at the thought of not being 'enough' for any new romantic partner, and it left her with many insecurities. The past three failed relationships had her convinced she wasn't worth a new relationship.

Y/N hadn't tried to start dating again after that, despite being 24 and single, she didn't even try flings because she knew she would get attached after sex, and being attached could lead to being hurt all over again.

-

It was a Friday night, and Y/N's middle school best friend, Somi, had invited her out to get some drinks. Somi was hoping to hook-up with someone by the end of the night, and had also hoped Y/N would loosen up a bit and do the same. She knows Y/N is still hurting from past relationships, but she thinks that loosening up could help her self-esteem. Y/N knew that Somi was trying to get her out of her shell and back into the dating world, but she just planned to play along for the night to keep Somi company, she'd go home alone like always after Somi found someone to go home with.

Somi sat beside Y/N at the bar, a rum and coke in hand, nudging her best friend gently with her elbow. "So, has anyone caught your eye yet?" She asked.

Y/N's gaze absent and disinterested, as she didn't even try looking around at all the attractive faces around them. "No, not really." Y/N answered.

"C'mon, open your eyes and look around a bit, you might see someone you like!" Somi said, nudging her best friend again with her elbow and trying to push her to look for someone to hit on.

Y/N glanced at her for a moment but remained indifferent, her gaze again remaining fixed on nothing.

That was until her eyes had landed on a handsome young man in his mid 20's across the room. His eyes completely focused on the girl sitting alongside Y/N, leaving her smirking. "So," Y/N began, a smirk forming on her lips as she turned to look at Somi. "Do my eyes deceive me, or do I spot a handsome-faced guy staring at you from across the bar?"

Somi's demeanor changed quickly, her gaze suddenly shifting to focus on where Y/N was looking at. As she followed Y/N's gaze across the room, she did in fact noticed the handsome guy quickly, and her lips slowly turned into a smirk before answering her friend, "Well, would you look at that. I mean, he's not bad looking I guess."
