Y/N POV
"Wake up!" I hit my brother so that he gets up off his ass.
He groans and sits up, rubbing his eyes. "Jesus Y/n, what's your problem?"
"My problem is Bryce is almost here and I don't want to risk being late on the first day because that is SO embarrassing" I explain crossing my arms.
"So embarrassing" Justin mocks in a high tone rolling his eyes, chuckling after. I just roll my eyes and throw his jacket at his face.
"Seriously, get dressed and hurry up." I demand, walking out of the room.
We were about to head out before we got stopped by our mom. "Look at you two" We hear behind us.
We both turn to face her. She looked tired and had an unlit cigarette resting in between her lips.
"You guys are all grown. I love you guys." She continues as we just stare blankly at her. "Have you seen my lighter?" She suddenly asks after a moment of silence.
"We have to go, bye mom." I say, mumbling the 'bye mom' and grab Justin's arm to leave.
—
We get to Bryce's car and I run to the passenger door to get in it before Justin does. Suddenly I feel my backpack get pulled and I am tripping backwards, but catch myself before I fall. I then look up to see Justin jump into the passenger seat."Nah bro, let Y/n sit up here." Bryce suggests, making Justin roll his eyes. I just grin with my head held high as he climbs to the back.
"Thanks, Walker." I say before we take off. "But also, what are you gonna do if we get pulled over and all you can do is show a permit?" I say teasing Bryce on how he is driving illegally.
"I get my license soon so it doesn't even matter." He explains as we drive to school. I just chuckle and stare out the window.
—
We arrive to school and Justin makes Bryce stop the car early. "Bryce stop." I look at Justin confused to see what he is looking at and I see his eyes on Hannah."You just broke things off with Kat, are you kidding me?" I groan as he unbuckles.
"Exactly!" Justin exclaims, jumping out of the car.
"What a whore." I scoff, causing Bryce to laugh.
—
I was walking in the hallway, and bumped into Tyler Down. "I'm so sorry!" I squeal. Tyler was a quiet kid, he takes a lot of pictures for yearbook, and from what I know he is nice but, being a scrawny kid who lets people push him around, he probably has it rough."You're good." He says, pursing his lips. "Uh- Can I take a picture for the yearbook? Just a quick one." He asks and I nod my head.
I pull my hair to the front and put a smile on my lips before I hear a *snap*. Suddenly my smile moves down slightly, and I thank Tyler as he moves on to others.
—
"Your brother does not give up." I hear over my shoulder before furrowing my brows in confusion.I look over and see Hannah Baker smiling a bit, standing against the lockers. "Yeah, he's kinda crazy, but a fun crazy.. I think?" I say causing her to chuckle. "Oh! Have you ever been to Monet's? It's like a little coffee shop and it's so cute! We should definitely go together!" I suggest as I see her eyes gleam and her smile turn wider.
"I've heard good things about it! Are you free today after school?" She questions as I think for a second.
"Oh shoot! I have volleyball practice after school today! I'm sorry, but tomorrow I should be good!!" I exclaim pretty excited to hang out with her.
"Practice before tryouts?" She wonders, looking at me like I'm crazy.
"Well, tryouts were in summer, it's kind of a weird schedule they have going on here." I explain, "But is tomorrow good?" I ask, hoping for a yes. Having another friend that isn't some dumb jock would be so nice to have.
"Yes! That's perfect, can't wait!" She grinned.
-
I was getting ready to close my locker so I could get to class before hearing a familiar voice say my name behind me, causing me to blush a bit before turning around with a small smile on my face.
"Dinner and then a movie tonight?" Jeff asks me as he looks down at me with a soft smile.
"I don't know.. I have practice and even if we went after, I already told Hannah I couldn't hang out today so that wouldn't be fair to her.." I bite the inside of my cheek, wanting to say yes so badly but not wanting to be disrespectful towards Hannah whether she knew I was going out or not.
He just nods his head slowly in thought before he smiles a little wider, "I understand that entirely, so lets go on Friday night, it gives us more time anyway."
I smile a little, knowing my cheeks were probably bright red, before nodding, "I can do that."
He grins widely before he gives one final nod and gives me a small goodbye before making his way to class.
