DEAL

In the warm embrace of dense fog, as the jungle echoed with the symphony of raindrops falling on the leaves, the splashing sounds of my bare feet hitting the muddy trail added further to its tone.

Shit! I have to hurry!

I panted, increasing my speed. It was hard to do so, considering the fog which was making it impossible to see farther than few metres, and also because of the uneven surface of forest that had made me fall couple of times.

I have to save her.

That was the only thought in my mind. The place was near, I could feel it from the way the forest was opening wide and the way smells of chemicals were getting overpowering by seconds.

Suddenly I halted, feeling the muddy surface under my feet got replaced by something cold. Colder than the rain itself.

Cement.

I have arrived!

Relief swept my body, as I panted due to lack of oxygen. Soon, the fog parted its way, and slowly, a structure started taking place.

I gritted my teeth, still out of breath, looking at the forming mansion in front of me. My fists curled into fists, anger burning with determination.

I'll avenge you, I promise.

There was a huge iron gate guarding the big mansion, which seemingly at this point looked as if it was mocking me. Wasting no time, I took a step forward to open the gate.

As my hand reached out to open it, a raindrop fell on it.

Red raindrop.

My other hand touched it, and brought it close the nose. My body froze when I realised what it was.

Blood.

Shakingly, I looked up at the sky. It was ominously painted in blood-red color, thunderstorms lightning within it, as if screaming in pure rage. My horrified eyes were watching it, when another blood-drop fell on my cheek.

And then on other cheek. Then on my head. Then on my shoulders. Then, without any warning, the sky began firing bullets of blood all over me.

I watched it in horror, as the blood slowly drenched me, coating me with it's sin, while I was frozen, not providing any resistance.

The sky turned black, and suddenly black fog started engulfing me. I wanted to scream but no words came out my mouth.

From the distance, with the bloody rain becoming intense and the fog almost making it impossible to see any light, I heard a very familiar voice.

'MOMMY! HELP! I'M HERE!!'

I jolted up, gasping for breath, as I frantically touched my face, trying to remove any presence of blood. But instead of blood, cold sweat clung to my skin. My hands randomly started touching the surrounding and came in contact with what felt like mattress. Slowly, the dark cellar began emerging as the reality started seeping in.

A nightmare.

It's been ages since I have gotten any such type of dreams. My heart was still pounding out of its cage. The dream felt way too alive to be just a dream, and I could vividly picture every details of it.

"Welcome back."

I jumped in shock hearing the voice. Jerking my head in that direction, my eyes widened at seeing a very familiar dark silhouette sitting comfortably on the chair infront of mine, watching me while I was sprawled like a crab on the dirty mattress.
