As someone who's been beside him since childhood, {Name] has seen everything Isagi's been through. He's been there to see how the Isagi of today came to be, each challenge morphing him into something kinder, something sharper, something better each time.

After watching Isagi triumph through all his hardships in life, how could he not fall in love with him? How could he not like the blue-eyed boy who rises above all with a sharp grin on his boyish face?

Many people were envious of how close [Name] was with Isagi. After all, who wouldn't want to grow up with the well-known egoist of the school, always striving to be better and unknowingly compelling everyone to run along with him?

To see the narrowed gazes and the sharp smiles that were pointed his way by one of Yoichi's many admirers on a daily could almost pull a laugh out of [Name]'s throat. They have no clue, not a single one.

Whoever said loving Isagi Yoichi was easy?

To love Isagi Yoichi was to love the ocean. Loving him was soft waters caressing your feet as you walked barefoot on a sandy beach and loving him was to slowly be enticed to walk further into the depths of the sea.

Despite the obvious trap, [Name] was no smarter than a sailor inside a folk tale about the sea. He'll let the crashing waves and roaring splashes lull him to sleep any day as he'll turn a blind eye to the approaching tsunami behind him.

To love Isagi Yoichi was to let the waters pull you deep into its embrace, never letting you go until the last bits of oxygen had left your lips.

To love Isagi Yoichi was to drown, letting the salty waters of the endless sea replace the very blood in your body.

It hurts and [Name] was fully aware that loving Isagi would destroy him, is destroying him.

Despite knowing him the longest, he recognizes the fact that he has the least chance with Isagi. I mean, who would choose him anyways when Isagi had admirers that were a better million times better?

There were geniuses like Rin, Nagi, and Kaiser. Rich people like Reo and Sae. There were also people like Bachira, Chigiri, Hiori, and Kurona.

As hopeless as it may seem, however, he does have one edge against the.

"There's this...guy..." Isagi sighed out, his voice hesitant and muffled, a bit unsure of how to explain his current dilemma.

"Oh." [Name]'s eyes were wide, not expecting it to be a love issue. He'd hoped to never have this talk with Isagi, deeming it far too painful to bear had he did, but here they were. "Go on." He replied eventually, his teeth nibbling on his lower lip.

The older of the two fiddled with his fingers as he stared down at the pillow on his lap, a bit unsure how to proceed. A small part of him was regretting the fact that he even brought this up but another part of him knew that there was no one better to tell this to than to the one who's been by his side the longest.

"He's just so pretty and smart and I really, really, want to ask him out. He's pretty grumpy with a reserve and stoic character but he's fun to be around. He pushes me to be better, to reach for him and to eventually reach his side. If I were to have a partner, I don't think I could imagine anyone else but him." The more he talked, the quieter his voice grew. Despite that, [Name] could see the pure adoration in his eyes along with the small fear lingering behind them. "The thing is, I'm not sure he even swings that way and even if he did...would he even like me?"

[Name] couldn't help but give a tiny smile at those words despite the hollowness that echoed within his heart. Never had he expected to hear Isagi ever say those words, it's such a shane they weren't for him though.

"How long have you known this person?" He doubts the person could one up him in this area but he wanted to know if this was something short term or not.

"December fifteen, around a year ago." He recited almost immediately as if the date had never left his mind.

It was the year Isagi transferred to Blue Lock for college. Since he was younger, the former graduated high school before him. "Has he ever shown any interest?"

"I don't know." Isagi groaned in frustration as he started to feel embarrassed about the fact they were even talking about this. "He's impassive to everyone! Sure, we banter a lot and he speaks to me more compared to anyone else but can I even consider that as flirting? What if he just actually hates my guts and I'm reading things the wrong way?" He whines out with a dramatic sob.

"Well, if you don't know how he feels. the only thing you can do is take a chance and confess." [Name] shrugged. "He sounds like a straightforward dude so I doubt he'd lead you on or anything."

A constipated look seemed to cross Isagi's face momentarily as he imagined the thought of Rin rejecting him and cursing his entire bloodline before never speaking to him ever again. It was a pretty overdramatic and uncharacteristic scenario but that's just how it is when you're in love. "Thanks, that really helped a lot." He spoke sarcastically.

"Then are you just going to sit there and mope? You never know when this lover boy of yours is going to stay single. Who knows, someone else might be planning to confess to him soon and when they do, you'll be sitting there in regret for not doing anything sooner." [Name] sighed in exasperation as he turned to look at the door in front of him. "What I mean is, it's alright to feel scared about the what-ifs. You won't be guaranteed to succeed but if you don't do anything about it, then you're already guaranteed to fail. It's better to take that shot and fail trying than never to have shot a goal you could've made."

How funny it was to be giving the love of his life love advice to confess to his crush. It was hypocritical of him to be saying this when he's been pining for years now.

Isagi's eyes couldn't help but narrow in thought before turning to look at [Name] with a gentle expression. "It's weird to hear you act so serious. You're usually as much of an airhead as I am." He joked lightheartedly, a small but grateful smile adorning his face. "But you're right. Thanks for the advice."

He stood up from the bed and started heading for the door. "I'll do it, I'll confess." He stated before walking out and leaving.

[Name] gave a tiny wave as Isagi hopped off his bed, looking more determined about something than he's ever seen him.

"Ah right," Isagi seemed to halt momentary as he gripped the door handle in his hand. "Thanks for hearing me out. You're the greatest friend I could ever ask for!" A beaming smile appeared on his face before finally leaving.

"Yeah, I know." [Name] gave a tiny wave as he watched Isagi's back disappear behind the door.

He might never get a chance so the least he could do is be a great friend. After all, that's all he'll ever be to him, anyways.
