It was another day in Central City and Team Flash was located at Star Labs, going through everything they needed for the day. It was a rather quiet day, nothing really going on and no mysteries nor problems to solve. So, everyone was just going about their days, watching the surveillance just in case. Cisco could be found playing games in his little part of the building, while Caitlin worked on something in the lab. Barry himself was at Joe's place, watching a movie with him. They laughed and made jokes while watching, eating their pizza and whatever else Barry ran and got for them. It was peaceful.

Then Star Labs received an important alert about someone holding people hostage in a bank robbery gone wrong, and someone was already dead inside. Cisco sent word to Barry as quickly as possible, and at the same time Joe also received the call about it. They were on their feet heading to the scene as quickly as they could. Barry of course sped up to the scene in his Flash suit, holding the comms to talk to Cisco. "Cisco, what floor?!" Barry shouts over the commotion, waiting for instruction from the team.

"Floor six, and hurry. If you don't get everyone out of there in the next 60 seconds, he's going to kill as many hostages as he can." Cisco says and Barry's eyes fill with determination. He begins to run as fast as he could, dragging hostages out of the room as quickly as he could muster. One, two, three, soon it was ten hostages moved. But... He wasn't fast enough. He ran to save one, but the bullet unfortunately was faster, it pierced through the skin of the victim and into their chest. Then another one, and then one more. Three victims he couldn't save. Barry let out a bloodcurdling scream that could be heard from outside the building. As he turned at super speed to look at the perpetrator and then ran at him with all of his might, tackling the man to the ground, hate filling his eyes for a brief moment, as if he was ready to kill the man. Then the police burst into the room, Joe included, and he pulled Barry off of the man by force and allowed the other officers to arrest the killer.

"I couldn't save them. I couldn't save them, Joe. It's my fault. I wasn't fast enough. I wasn't fast enough." He says as he yanks himself away from Joe and begins to pace back and forth.

"Hey. Hey! Flash, look at me!" Joe shouts, and Barry turns to look at Joe, his expression laced with fury. "Flash, you can't save everyone. As much as you try, you can't save everyone." Joe tries and Barry just shakes his head vigorously.

"I have to!!" Barry screams, his voice booming off the empty walls surrounding. Tears begin to form in his eyes as he looks over at the lifeless bodies that were soon to be hauled away to the morgue. "I have to..." He mumbles breathlessly, looking around the room frantically.

In one swift moment, in a flash we could say, he ran out of the room and back to Star Labs. He entered the building and went into the cortex. He drops to his knees in front of the rest of the team. Cisco, Caitlin and Harry. He just looks at the ground, defeated. Tear drops seemed to hit the floor beneath him. He sat in silence as the other three were too stunned to speak. Soon, Caitlin approached him and put a kind and gentle hand on his shoulder.

"Barry... it's okay. You did your best. You saved six people at least, that's six more people who get to go home to their families tonight." Caitlin says.

"And three who don't. Three who never get to go home to their families again." Barrys says without looking up. "It's my fault, I was too slow." He says, and the others started to get a bit scared by Barry's behavior. Then Harry stood up.

"Barry you can't save everyone." Harry says, and Barry looks up this time- he looks up angrily. He speeds over to Harry and shoves him against the wall, holding him there.

"Why does everyone keep saying that as if it's going to make this better?! Three people are DEAD! And I could've saved them! If only I was faster..." He says and let's Harry go, speeding into the speed lab to run laps as fast as he could possibly move at this moment, trying to get faster. He had to get faster; he has to get faster. If he doesn't, he might as well end his reign as a superhero and the fastest man alive.  He ran, as fast as he could manage, and he kept running. Even as Cisco came in and told Barry not to push himself too hard otherwise, he would hurt himself. But Barry just kept going.
