Berlin, Germany. 2014. Hydra facility #8032. Medical unit. Experimental wing.

The room is dimly lit, there's a slight hum from the lights overhead. A group of doctors and scientists stand against a wall, watching one half of their experiment from behind a two-way mirror. Test subject one? The infamous Winter Soldier – the fist of Hydra. Test subject two? A random girl, kidnapped from her sheltered life to be tortured by the dregs of humanity. The current head of the organization stands in front of the soldier, waiting impatiently. "When is he going to wake up?"

A scientist lifts one of the soldier's eye lids and shines a light in his eye, trying to get a response from him. "I-I'm not sure, sir. It doesn't make sense... He should be awake by now."

"I swear to god, if you people screwed up my soldier, you'll all be dead."

"J-j-just hold on, she's weaker than him... She might be keeping him from waking up."

"Then she'll be the one dead." The soldier's eyes pop open and focus on Pierce. "Dear god, we did it! He's awake." There's a breath of relief from the scientist as the others fill the room. They congratulate each other as they look over the soldier.

"Wh-what is this?" The soldier asks, trying to pull himself free from the restraints keeping him strapped on the metal table. "What did you do?" His anger rises as Pierce stands there with a grin.

"We've finally done it; you've served Hydra well... and in return we have a little something for you."

"What have you done?" His voice is hoarse as he speaks.

"We've finally completed the biggest project Hydra has ever worked on." Pierce's cocky pride radiates from him. A guard moves to the soldier and removes his restraints. "We've created an angel. A perfect match, just for you!" His excitement is like a punch to the gut to the soldier.

"Mr. Pierce? I'd like to explain things to him." A doctor with a thick European accent asked. Pierce nodded for him to continue. "We transplanted a part of your brain in her, in return you now have a piece of her brain. From our tests we've concluded that she feels everything you feel. You feel everything she does."

"The two of you will always be connected. Isn't it wonderful?" Pierce asked. The soldier just stared at him. An image flashes in his mind through the girl's eyes, she sits straight up and frantically looks around a dark, empty room and her feeling of panic sets in his chest. "What is it? What did you see?"

"She's awake..." The soldier looks away, guilt suddenly racking his insides. He knows how horribly Hydra treats their pawns and this girl would be no exception.

"Perfect timing. Let's get you to her then. Stand up, soldier." The soldier does as he's told and follows Pierce and the doctor down the hall, a group of guards following the group. They pass a few doors before stopping at one in particular. The sign on the door tells the soldier what he already knew: Angel Project. Subject #000107. He cringes internally, the numbers on the door representing that they've tried this at least 106 times before. Pierce opens the door and a guard pushes the soldier inside, slamming and locking the door behind him.
