I was the last of my litter to have opened my eyes. I looked around to see that I was in a small den with a three other pup-mothers besides my own mother. From what I remember hearing before I opened my eyes was that there were four pup-mothers: Pebbles, Pepper, Silver, and Angel. All of them had different scents but I couldn't discern who was who yet.
When I had looked beside me, I saw two other pups playing. I sat up and watched, when one of the pup-mothers took notice of me. "Looks like your last pup had opened her eyes, Angel."
Angel, my mother, lifted her head to one of the pup-mothers who addressed her. It seemed like she was lost in thought, until she realized the pup-mother was right. I looked up at her and she smiled down on me and licked my head. "Good morning, Obsidian," she beamed. "Welcome to the pack."
"Can she come and play with us," one of the pups asked. "We have been waiting so patiently like you asked."
"She just opened her eyes, Shepherd," Angel said calmly. "Give her a moment."
The other pup pawed at Shepherd. "It's not fair that I am right here and you are already pestering our sister to play! Scar and Creek are gonna be full members today and all you can think of is to play with Obsidian?"
"Heather," Angel sighed. "Come now, you all can play outside, why don't you both take her outside? Comet or Vaper will call on us when everyone from patrols are back."
"The ones lead by Cloud and Maple?"
Angel nodded. "They should be back soon."
Shepherd hopped to his paw. "Come on, Obsidian! We can show you around the came site! It get a little lonely, there really isn't any other around our age."
Before I could get a word in, Shepherd was already pushing me out of the den with Heather in tow. "Who are Scar and Creek?" I finally asked once we we outside and Shepherd stopped shoving me. "I have never heard of them being mentioned..."
"You'll meet them when they get back, they are our older brothers," Heather said before Shepherd could. She looked over her shoulder to add to him, "There is also either other pups in the nursery that are of age of us that we also could play with-"
"But Apollo and Brutus are bigger than us and Summit and Blaze don't really like to wrestle," whined Shepherd. "And Mist and Jasmine often prefer to sunbath anyway and Faith follows Summit anyway."
Heather rolled her eyes. "You haven't even talked to any of them and you are already making assumptions."
Before we all knew it, we all got trampled on. It had shut Shepherd up for a little while as the newcomer apologized.
"Jasmine and I were in the middle of a new game she made up," she chuckled. "I'm Mist," she said to me. "You just opened your eyes, didn't you? You guys can come tag along if you'd like?"

Though Shepherd didn't like it, we joined in with Mist and Jasmine. We got a few rounds of what Jasmine called as "tag" before we shifted to wrestling. Before long, Cloud and Maple came back. Heather had pointed out Scar and Creek to me, as well as our father, Ripley.
I've noticed that a lot of the wolves in this pack, which Mist had told me was called Shadow Night, were light coated wolves. I looked down at my own paws and saw that they were black.
Mist leaned in on me, almost making me look up at her. "Something the matter?"
"I was just thinking, every other wolf in this pack has light coats and I am the only one that has a dark coat," I whispered. I looked to my other side to see that my brother and sister had already gone to greet Scar and Creek.
