A Start of Apprenticeship

After what seemed like days, two moons came and went like it was nothing. Mist, Jasmine, and Brutus were excited as in three moons they would be given a chance to explore the territory. We were kind of stuck in the nursery as our mother didn't want us getting soaked in the rain we were getting.

It was pretty quiet, minus Apollo's complaining and Shepherd whining to run around in the rain. Mist, Jasmine, and Heather were all next to me, watching and listening to the rain. The smell of the rain and the soft scent of lavender mixing together didn't sound like a great combination, but it smelled relaxing in a way. I didn't even realize the lavender the first time three moons ago until Jasmine mentioned it.

I was getting more excited to our apprenticeship, and the more I thought about it the more I actually wanted to be a warrior, though I could tell that Jasmine was more nervous than excited. We all tried to comfort her and support her, but nothing seemed to work. Though she tried to explain that we won't be training together, that didn't bother us too much as we'd all be seeing her still everyday, which seemed to lift her spirits a little.

I had thought of how quick the moons have taken, and how some wolves took notice of the new intake. Blaze and Summit were the new pups that were now staying with us and already we didn't like either of them. Apollo seemed to be overjoyed that he wasn't the only abandoned pup that joined the pack. Pebbles didn't take up in fostering the pups as she was already fostering Apollo.

The both of them resided in the nursery with us, and Blaze would pick on us. They were often intercepted by the pup-mothers, and this kind of effected Jasmine. Mist was not pleased.

I sighed the moment Blaze and Summit attempted to get into the wrestle with Shepherd and and Brutus, practically ending their fun, and was almost forced by the pup-mothers for the two to play with them. It only ended when the pup-mothers had to get involved with Blaze hurt and injured Shepherd, resulting in Angel asking us to bring him to the Healer's Den.

"Hurting to the point of injury isn't play," Pebbles stated to Blaze as we left. "Be more gentle next time!"

"Are you okay?" Mist asked as we walked.

Shepherd shook his head. "I don't wanna go back there if Blaze is," he whimpered.

I leaned on him. "Neither do I," I started, "but there is really nothing we can do."

Ember and Hail looked up when we entered. "What are you pups doing here alone without your pup-mothers?"

"Shepherd got hurt while wrestling with Blaze, Summit, and Brutus," I stated. "Angel sent us with him."

"And before you tell us to 'be more careful,' he and Brutus was careful until Blaze and Summit joined in," Mist stated matter-of-factly. "And aren't we also not old enough not to have our mothers to watch us?"

Ember closed her eyes and took a deep breath, and nodded. She didn't seem to like, obviously, being told something that she was going to scold us about from Mist. Hail looked annoyed that now they had to patch up a pup of nearly three to four moons. Though Hail was almost close to twenty-four moons, she clearly had no patience for pups under twelve moons.

"I'll see to it that he's fine," Ember said before Hail could. "Hail, can you make sure they return to the nursery?"

"Must I?" Hail retorted, clearly not happy with this request. "They are clearly old enough to return on their own!"

Mist was about to say something else when Ember cut-in. "Hail, you are one of the healers, I want you to look at the others that were wrestling to see if there any injuries."

Groaning, Hail pushed passed us as we followed her back to the nursery. Her fur was bristling, it was clear that she didn't like this task and didn't want us saying anything to her. When we enterer, Hail was looking over  Summit and Blaze. We shook ourselves in the back corner, away from the other pup-mothers. I looked up to see Hail making a rush exit.
