"I understand that, Albus," Newt whispered in a hushed voice to not wake Hope on the couch, "I just think it's...concerning." He glanced over at Hope to make sure he hadn't woken her.
They'd just returned from the fiasco in New York, and they were all a bit frazzled. Hope most of all, but Newt was feeling spread, too. His patience was becoming too thin for his liking.
Albus sighed softly and nodded, pinning him with a stare. "I understand your frustration, Newt, but there isn't much we can do now. We're still searching and will continue to do so, but now, Hope needs us to be present with her."
The wolfsbane. New York. Henry.
It was all so much that Newt's head was spinning with worry.
Firm hands were placed on his shoulders. He glanced up, meeting Albus' deep blue hue. He took a shaky breath, letting himself calm a little.
"I know, Newt," he murmured, "But we don't have any leads. We must not lose ourselves with worry. We take each blow to her safety one step at a time. Otherwise, we'll get sloppy, and it'll cost more than we can gamble."
They glanced at Hope now, who looked exhausted from her monthly cycle and everything she'd been through over the past months. It wasn't the life Newt wanted for her.
Albus was right.
Their hands were tied, but they had to do everything possible to keep her safe.
