Deep in the lush Spring Court fields a manor stood strong and repaired. The family within was small; just a husband and wife, and their small daughter.

But their love was large.

The first light of dawn was a beautiful blend of soft pink and orange. With that light as guidance the family started their day's work.

The father sometimes enjoyed manual labor and visited the countless fields his subject's worked. Sometimes he ventured to the border, to ensure his family's protection. Other times he braced his duties at the High Lord of the Spring Court.

The mother was a healer, and she mostly grew her herbs in the back gardens. But she was always welcomed in the villages. Guiding children into the world, or older faeries into the afterlife. There wasn't much her eyes hadn't seen, but she was brave and kind.

The little girl was a joy. She sat on the wet grass, her toes bare and wiggling against the soft buds of flowers. She smiled widely at her family. And at strangers as well. She made friends with rabbits and wild horses. And she loved freely.

As the girl grew older, she never lost her wildness. She was to be found in the grass, sprinting towards the water.

She disappeared deeper into the fields, the old trees twisted towards the clear blue sky, their branches covered in vibrant green dropping to the ground. The pond was tucked away behind the privacy of those trees.

The girl ceased her sprinting, her breath coming in great pants. She swatted flies irritatingly from around her hair and squatted next to the water. She gazed at the Starlight within, and a sense of calm washed over her. In the entire Spring Court, this was her favorite place to be.

She plunged her hand into the water and moaned pleasurably at the cold. The trees provided enough shade and she enjoyed the roughness of the rocks under her as she sat.

The water stirred by the breeze at the end of her feet and the wind softly made the leaves dance above her head. She leaned back, supporting her weight on her hands. She allowed herself to feel peace and bliss, until she conjured an image she'd dreamed before.

Three mountain peaks, covered in snow. She almost felt the harsh wind along the planes of her body. She shivered as she laid down on the grass. In the dream she'd been flying above the mountains, and the stars reached out to embrace her.

Danae made a soft sound at the back of her throat, her heart racing for unknown reasons.

Sometimes she'd had such vivid dreams, but none calmed her more than those of the stars and the mountains covered in thick layers of snow. Which was strange, she thought, as she'd never seen snow before in her life. Not while she lived in endless Spring. Her eyes fluttered close and she slumbered peacefully, unknowing of what was to come.
