Erwin was (Y/n)'s personal knight from the age of 15 and now she's 20 and he is 22, he is still
(Y/n)'s knight, also probably the only person that listen to (Y/n)'s babbling most of the time, although he just nods and listen
he was the one who always look out for (Y/n) when she escape the palace or go to the market disguised as a commoner

and now she's done it again, escaped through the back of her balcony to who knows where

the cold night air pierced your lung as you run far away from the palace, enjoying the wind that you desperately need and the sky painted with stars
until you hear a familiar voice...
you decided to brush it off and act like you're a mere commoner that just so happens to be passing by, but he was no fool

Erwin catches up to you "i know you like the back of my hands princess, theres no point in getting away now, why dont we just head back to the palace now?" he says as he tried to steady his breath from running after you

you sigh as you face him now, unveiling you cloak  "im tired Erwin." you're just so fed up with so many princes that come into the palace asking for your hand in marriage like you're some kind of a prize just to get to the throne.

"i get that you're tired but it is your duty to the crown ,princess!" Erwin exclaims with an underlying frustration in his voice

"i know and i'm not trying to abandoned it, i just... let me get some air and ill come back with you" (Y/n) requested, looking back to the sky

Erwin gives you a skeptical look but can see the sincerity in your voice, he's still annoyed but he can't be too hard on you, his duty is to keep you safe. and there's no point in arguing with you, so he shrugs, "fine but just make sure it's not long, if anyone sees you missing there'll be a search party out in no time"

"always so uptight" you rolled you're eyes,
"i know you're annoyed with me sometimes Erwin, you can get mad at me if you want to" you say as you pat the ground signaling him to sit beside you

Erwin hesitantly sit next to you, the hard grass was very uncomfortable especially with his armor but he still sits down nevertheless "i am not annoyed with you, your highness. its just that i need to answer a bunch of question and face your father's wrath when you go missing, it is very troublesome." he say with a sigh.

you just nod and you both stayed in silence,
"why do you become a knight erwin?" you ask so suddenly.

Erwin looks at you with a puzzled look, then back towards the ground. He stays like that for a few seconds, he's thinking about the question, he then looks back at you and answers "I'm not really sure, I've been a knight since I was very young, i don't remember what prompted my decision to become one, it just seemed like the natural way for a boy like me".

"do you enjoys it? i mean it must be pretty tiring to always look after me." you says smiling but underneath you were sad, thinking that you've become a burden even to your knight
