(y/n is 17 here)

From the moment I was born I had been with the Kamado's, my mother was Aunt Kie's sister, she had died, everyone says a bear killed her only hours since I had been born, some woman in a black uniform had brought me over to them, she knew I was related to them, the townspeople had told her.

I had changed my last name to Kamado when I was three because I was upset my last name didn't match theirs, even though Aunt Kie wanted me to keep the last name, I began telling everyone I was a Kamado, so I was known as Y/n Kamado.

I'm alot older than my cousins.

I was six when Tanjiro was born, I remember Aunt Kie and Uncle Tanjuro handing him over to me, I remember the way I began crying out of happiness that I had a friend now.

I was eight when Nezuko was born, me and Tanjiro were excited, I remember Tanjiro squealing with excitement.

I was nine when Takeo was born, I was eleven when Hanako, and thirteen when Shigeru was born. (A/n y/n had already ran away before Rokuta was born due to him being 3)

I had packed my bags, I was going to run away, threw the bag over my shoulder, slowly walking past them, trying not to wake them as I stepped over them.

I stared down at them as I stepped over them.

Tanjiro, I rember when we'd run around playing tag or how he'd smell us out when we played hide and seek, I remember teaching him how to properly cut through trees.

Nezuko, I remember carrying her around whenever Aunt Kie or Uncle Tanjuro couldn't, I remember us playing random instruments we could get our hands on, I remember teaching her how to sew so she could fix her kimono whenever it got torn.

Takeo, I remember him laughing and watching me chop wood, I remember him having a nightmare and running to join me in bed, telling me all about it.

Hanako, I remember her clinging to me, crying whenever she left my side, I remember having to carry her wherever I went.

Shigeru, he'd mock everything I do, repeating every word I said. He'd always want to follow me down the hill when I went to sell charcoal.

I remember taking the cart down the hill, pulling them along with me as I sold charcoal, I remember having to carry them around on my back or having to sew up their clothing because Aunt Kie was busy.

As I stepped over Shigeru, I heard a little voice speak up "hm? Where are you going?" I turned to look down at him.

"I'm going to the bathroom." I lied, hiding my bag, he hummed and closed his eyes again, I slowly walked past them all.

The last person I saw was Aunt Kie, I know I was being selfish, I know that she needs help after all, Uncle Tanjuro is sick, and she has five children. I sighed softly, and put down a small bag of money next to her as she slept. It was around 200 yen. I had saved up from working a bunch of extra things, this should hold them up for a while. (200 yen in 1920s Japan is equivalent to $100 U.S.D which is around $1,542.08 today.)

I needed to know the truth about my mothers death. Grandma had said it was a demon that had killed her and that the woman in the black uniform was a demon slayer. I was going to try and find her.

As I walked outside and moved down the hill I came over towards river that was a few miles away, as I walked up to it I saw my stork, Tsumugi, I had found her three years ago when she was just hatched, I've raised her up to this point, I whistled making Tsumugi look over to me and fly towards me, bowing its head slightly as I reached out to scratch it's head, It was tiny compared to me.

And I began my journey.
