As the ginger leader dashed towards the toppling branches, about to encase his long-time friend of WindClan, in a prison of darkness and wood, he had no regrets. For Onewhisker's sake, Firestar wished StarClan was guiding his paws in this moment. He had more lives than him, he could sacrifice himself, but Onewhisker was a valuable asset to his Clan, a one-life asset.  If he wasn't fast enough, the warrior's spirit would snuff out like a flame.

Cats in the background blurred from his sight, he caught a flash of ginger and knew it was his daughter, Squirrelpaw. With one last burst of energy, the ThunderClan leader's pelt met with mottled tabby fur, his friend's amber eyes wide. He shoved him out of the way as darkness encased him like a soft wave, gently drowning his consciousness into something unknown. Tangled branches reached above his head in a way he couldn't see, barely visible light.

Firestar saw a flash of starlight, and as his eyes slid closed, as signal for death's open paws to take him and life to bring him back. He wondered. StarClan, is that you? But no answer awaited him, his silent pleas falling on empty ears as life relinquished it's hold on his spirit, and he walked down a path that would hopefully guide him to StarClan.
