Pink didn't know why they got so protective.
...
She's an adult. She can make her own decisions.
...
Why did they care so much anyways?
...
She was nothing special.

Pink has always struggled with her insecurities. Every day when she woke up she felt the need to be perfect.

Pink's Ideal Daily Routine:
Wake up early
Brush your teeth
Get dressed
Eat breakfast
Go to class
Eat lunch
Do homework
Go back to class
Go back to your dorm
Finish homework
Practice something so you don't waste time doing nothing
Sleep

Pink's ACTUAL Daily Routine:
Wake up early
Brush your teeth
Try to avoid looking in the mirror while you brush your teeth
Eventually fail and glance at the mirror
Cry tears of self-loathing
Get dressed
Skip Breakfast because you cried for too long you fool
Go to class
Worry about people staring at you
(They are definitely not staring at you, but worry anyways)
Eat lunch
Do homework
Go back to class
Go back home absolutely exhausted from all the worrying
Do homework
Pass out

But she would never let anyone see that side of her. She could never live up to her own expectations. That's why she needed people to like her. To think she was perfect. If they found out the truth...she would have nothing left. That's how she saw it.

Red was the first person to show interest in her. (People have liked her before, but they've always been too shy to show it) He was bold and kinda stupid. He made her want to break out of her "perfect" life. Despite being socially inept and downright cringe at times, he was actually quite intelligent. They could easily switch between intellectual conversations and stupid banter. To her, he was the best of both worlds. Yes, he could be an asshole at times, but he was never bad to her. She was sure he would grow out of it eventually.
