Chapter 1: Sunny Sky

“Onii-chan¹, tomorrow I'll be staying the night in the university.“

“Oh, okay.“

Mahiro, laying on the couch, lazily gives a thumbs up while still having his eyes fixated towards the TV. He's too focused watching a foreign historical drama, something about some kind of empire during its birth.

“That means you'll be alone in the house for a day like before, can you handle that?“

“...!!!“

Hearing those words, Mahiro twitched. Mihari knew what happened to him during her absence, when she left him for a day. He craved for some social interaction with someone, which means that his social skills are improving, she thought.

“W-well, what's the occasion?“

“It's some laboratory stuff I have to keep surveillance of until midnight. I need to be there or else my sample would fail.“

“O-oh...“

It's not that uncommon for a university student staying late until morning just for their project. There's even a case where there would be some people that would just not go back home or back to their dormitories for days or even more. This is why researching could be very exhausting.

Then again, Mahiro never enrolled to an university. He never knew almost anything about his sister's life at university, so sometimes it's a bit hard for him to understand his sister's daily academical routines.

“Anyway, since you seemed like you would need some company for the night, I called someone to have a sleepover with you!“

“Hold on, let me guess... It's Kaede and Momiji, isn't it?“

Both Kaede and Momiji have been involved with several occasions related to Mahiro, hence it's natural why he came up to that conclusion.

“Yup, they'll be arriving tomorrow at afternoon, so you'll going to be alone for some hours.“

“Well, if it's them then I'm fine with it.“

Mahiro goes back to a comfy position to watch the TV again, as Mihari glances at him wondering how he will endure being alone this time, albeit now he'll have friends over to stay for the night.

“He'll be fine,” she thought.

As the night goes on, Mihari prepares her bag for tomorrow. Spare lab coats, her usual clothes, and definitely some spare undergarments.

Besides her bag, there's a printed document titled “Process in the Makings of MHR Solution and the Solution's Effects to Animals and Humans,” something she will be presenting when the full document is complete, as her 'experiment' isn't even in its last phase.

Tomorrow, Mihari will be getting more samples for the next batch of her improved MHR Solution, something she will give to her brother which will make him be much stable while being a girl, unlike the former solution that are weak when exposed to some situations. Particularly being inside of a sizeable water quantity, like in a onsen², pool, and even sea.

The legality of the project is questionable, as Mihari technically didn't even ask for her brother's consent back then. Even more that drugging someone without their knowledge is morally questionable, and can be considered illegal, unless its about parents trying to trick their kids by dissolving cough syrup to a drink, which is okay. Also, the legality of modifying a human body is still in the grey area, and even illegal when it comes to unauthorized ones. The only legal ones as of now are what the medical world currently have for a partial transition of a Transsexual individual. Her experiment would likely revolutionize a lot of things for the medical world, but as of now, she would deal with the law first.
