I never realized how old the house I grew up in was, and Charlie said that his father built many houses in the suburb. That was understandable because the house was in one of the best spots in the suburb.
To the right was a huge river. River Bend was one of the county's biggest suburbs, so several bridges were in it. You get a good look at the bridge and the river. A dense forest is in the backyard.
Since the house has been owned for years and paid off, Charlie has been able to buy the small strip of land and make a private property dock. I am sure he fishes every time he gets off work. I was also right about Dad not changing anything in the house or my room. The house was exactly how I remembered it. The exterior was a bit rough, but Charlie loves doing yard work.
I never expected to be gifted a truck, much less my dream truck. I loved vintage things, and my father got me a 1953 Chevrolet StepSide C-10 pickup truck. It needed a lot of TLC, but it could get me to school and back. I don't know how he remembered how much I loved this truck. When I was 7, he took me to a car show because I liked Hot Wheelz.
I told Dad that I would get a job to help pay for some repairs on the truck, but he shut it down. He also shut down when I said I would use some of my car funds. He told me that he wanted me to put my car fund into my college, and he didn't want 'any daughter of his getting a minimum wage job,'
It was endearing, but I am still going to get a job. I had one as a hostess in Phoenix, and he will have to deal with it.
