She wished she was a star.

It had been a long day for her, a bit too long. So when nighttime arrived, she stepped out her front door and wandered for a while till she reached her stargazing spot.

She laid down on the soft yet lightly wilted grass, and stared up at the sky, taking in as much as she could. She ignored everything that happened earlier that day, hoping that the memory would drown into an endless abyss. Every thought in her mind drifted away until she felt a soft tickle on her hand.

Startled, she turned her head to the right, and saw a young man of her age lying beside her, gazing at the stars just as she was. She turned her attention to her hand and saw a small silver star pendant resting in the middle of her palm. Her fingers tightened over the pendant. She stayed quiet, looking at him and the twinkle of a smile on his face.

As she turned her head back towards the sky, she realized it was his way of escaping too.
