She wanted someone to be her star.

The wailing of her guardian disturbed her more than she wanted it to. It was the sound of yet another person leaving the girl. But the girl didn't take it for granted. She tried not to.
And again, like she had been doing for the past days, she went to her special spot, letting her lantern guide her.


He beat her to it today. He was already laying on his back, arms and legs spread like a little child in the snow.


She made her way to her spot, and lay just as he was.


Their hands brushed.


Their hands overlapped.


Their hands intertwined.


And for a mere moment she thought things were going to be just fine.
