It was supposed to be a perfect day, the sun was shining, my mom was back home from the states, I had just been promoted to team leader at work but at the end of that day I was crying and drinking alone outside of a convenience store.

I woke up at 5:30am and took a shower, brushed my teeth, did my skincare, ate breakfast with my mom and then got dressed for work. I took the bus there and got in on time. I filed some paperwork and read some of the recent pitches. Then people started arriving to work, they were late like usual. But this time it was different they were whispering and giving me dirty looks, some gave pitiful smiles. It weirded me out but I chose to ignore it.                                                              I got ready for our meeting and started setting it up. As people came in it was just more whispering and sneaky looks, until our manager came in and asked to talk to me. He pulled me into a storage room. "HR is very upset right now, they are waiting for me to update them about you and well our CEO." I was confused. I didn't know what he meant. "You should tell me the truth, look I don't care which gender you like or whatever just dating the CEO will make you look very very dirty." What? What was he talking about? "I don't know what you're talking about." He looked upset. "Look Taevin just admit it. You weren't thinking, you fell in love and didn't care how it affects your career." I felt like throwing up, my chest felt tight, I felt tears fall down my face.  "Taevin, you should go and pack your stuff. I'm sorry."

I was done packing. I left my badge there and I was now walking out with our manager, my eyes were on the ground. It was all over now. My dreams, my smiles, my happiness. It was all because of this job. It was my dream. It was everything to me. He said his goodbyes and apologies. I didn't even care anymore. I got into the bus. I got home but an empty home, she left a letter. She got back together with the guy she left me for. I fell down. I couldn't handle it. I lost everything. Of course I did, me enjoying life for a couple years was enough. Just because I accepted an invitation to dinner by my ex boss. I was stupid for that.

I put on some sneakers and headed to the nearby convenience store. I bought some soju and dried squid. Go Taevin's life was over. But the clear night sky full of stars gave him some hope. Maybe it was because he was drunk but he decided to live a little longer and look for happiness somewhere else, somewhere faraway. From Seoul to Boryeong. Back to finding happiness and hope somewhere else.
