Backup arrived along with a pregnant policewoman hostage negotiator, Officer Kea Mogadi.
Kea demanded contact with Thando, but the only way was through phone calls. Kea called her , introduced herself and asked her, why is she doing this. Thando said,"I want to speak to and negotiate with Officer James Ndlovu. I have nothing to say to you." Then she hung up.
An officer showed Kea the video that Thando posted on social media. Kea, in shook, called Thando, and Thando answered the call saying,"Is this Officer James Ndlovu?"
"No, it's not but listen if..."
"Ok then don't call until you get Officer James Ndlovu or I kill one child." Then she hung up.
Kea told the superiors that were there about Thando's request.The superiors said that they can't because it's James's off day. She told them that she threatened to kill one child if the request isn't done. The superiors had no choice but, to call James.
James was in his house doing what he always does when he is off, smoking and on the couch, relexed. He receives a call from one of the superiors. He picks up the call, "Hello, sir."
"Morning, James, we need you here."
"Why do you need me, it's my off day."
"Look at the most trending topics on social media."
"Ok, I'm looking..." James goes to his social media and scrolls through his phone he sees the video Thando posted. "Yeah, so... What does that have to do with me?"
"The woman only wants to negotiate with you."
"Ok, I'll be there." He said then hung up.
When news stations all around South Africa heard about the incident they all rushed to the house. The police then created a wall using metal ,and concrete barriers, to protect them.
When Lerato arrived, she saw a lot of people in front the main entrance to the house. Not knowing what was going on ,she went into the house through the kitchen door. Thando was in the kitchen when Lerato entered. As Lerato entered Thando drew out the gun from her waist, to point it to her. Lerato showed fear in her eyes and body language, and she asked,"What are you doing?"
"Shut up!.. and come with me."
Lerato followed her and Thando took her to the same room, where she had kept the driver, sat her down on a chair ,and tied her up.
