It has been almost a decade since the last interaction between Aki Collins and Loyd Shio, one was a close friends, the other is an ex-spouses. In the aftermath of Aki's discovery of the journal, she has seemingly vanished from the scene. Meanwhile, Loyd's life has undergone significant changes—he now has a daughter, and his business has flourished, transforming him into a millionaire, a dream once inspired by the encouragement of his deceased friend.
Today marks the 8th anniversary of Loyd's friend's passing, a day he honours by wearing the blue tie gifted to him during their teenage years. It has become a tradition to wear the tie while visiting his friend's grave, one that Loyd has no intention of ending anytime soon. As he prepares for the day, his daughter rushes to him and wraps her tiny arms around his legs.
"Daddy, Daddy, when are we leaving?" she asks, her face lit up with anticipation as she lightly jumps up and down. She is adorned in a simple yet elegant black dress, radiating beauty and innocence. Loyd smiles softly and pets her head, "Soon, sweetheart. Your uncle can't wait to meet you, you know?" The daughter's smile widens at the mention of her uncle, though she has never seen his face; her father's stories have painted a vivid picture of this mysterious man.
Tidying his hair, Loyd's wife entered the room, wearing a dress identical to their daughter's. "Dear, I've checked the forecast, and it seems today will have perfect weather," she remarked. Loyd nodded in acknowledgment, giving himself one last glance in the mirror before they all headed towards the car.
"Oh no! I left Mr. Fluffy!" their daughter exclaimed, darting back into the house in search of her beloved rabbit plushie. The parents exchanged amused glances, sharing a light chuckle at their daughter's forgetfulness. "Do you think you're starting to move on, dear?" Midori Shio, Loyd's wife, inquired. Only a bitter smile graced Loyd's lips. "With time, but I'm still grieving. Though it's a bit easier than last year," he admitted.
Midori smiled warmly, observing her husband's progress in healing, proud of how far he had come. Though she had only heard stories about his friend, he seemed remarkably supportive and kind. Soon, the sound of little footsteps echoed down the hallway. "Mr. Fluffy has arrived! Now we can go," their daughter declared, her smile beaming. Loyd gently lifted her up, caressing her cheek affectionately, before they headed out together.
