"And with that CLASS OF 2025 you can now switch your tassels. CONGRATULATIONS !! "
I can't help the smile that graces my face. I watch the hassles fly all around me and the feeling of joy overwhelms me. I did it. All the tireless nights spent on assignments.
I'm brought out of my train of thought when arms wrap around me. I instantly recognize the smell of my boyfriend's cologne.
I turn in his arms and wrap my arms around his neck. "Hi bunny."
He smiles brightly as me. "Hi moró." He says before he kisses me softly I smile into the kiss. I'm so incredibly happy.
I hear a squeal from behind me and detach my self from Roman, I hear him grumble in disapproval. "Oh stop it," I turn around to find my best friend and the rest of our friends.
"We did it! We did it! After all those tiring nights of staying up and crying and not sleeping and not showering, we finally did it!" Yon exclaims.
"We did it."
Cléo laughs as Yon nearly knocks her over with excitement, their shared joy radiating through. The past few years had been filled with trails, but in that moment surrounded by friends and love, everything felt worth it.
Roman's hands slides into Cléo's, giving it a squeeze. "Alright guys, I'd like to have my girlfriend back, there's something important I need to do." I furrow my brows in confusion.
Roman and Tako do a weird eye exchange thingy, "Oh yeah, totally. See you guys later."
Yon looks at Tako, "What are you talking about-" Jeno gently nudges Yon giving her a look.
"Oh!" Yon exclaims, "Yeah, by babe, have fun." She winks at me.
"Rom?" I question.
"Come on," He whispers, his voice thick with emotion. "I have something to show you."
I tilt my head curiously but let him pull me away from my group. We walk towards his car, the cheers and laughter of our friends fade int the background. I can't help but feel a sense of anticipation bubbling in my chest.
We drive a little bit out the city, but not too far, and soon we pull into a quiet neighborhood lined with beautiful townhouses. He parks in front of a cozy red brick house with a forest green door. The outer exterior is decorated in plants of all kinds. And the front porch adorned with fairy lights.
"Roman?" I breathe, glancing at him.
He steps out and rounds the car, opening my door before taking my hand again. "I wanted this to be a surprise, but I couldn't wait anymore." He grins.
"Come on, let's go inside."
I follow him, my heart pounding out of my chest. The moment we step in, I'm overwhelmed with emotion. The house is empty, but it already feels like home. The hardwood floors shine under the warm glow of the ceiling lights, and the living room open into a spacious kitchen with a big island.
Roman turns to me, rubbing the back of his neck. "I know we've talked about our future, but I wanted to show you what I've been working toward. This house....it's ours." My heart starts beating so fast I fear it might jump out my chest.
"I know it's not perfect but, I'm thinking of us slowly building it together, and adding things little by little."
"You bought us a house?" I choke out, tears welling up in my eyes as I throw myself into his arms.
He chuckles, holding onto me tightly. "Yeah, moró. I did."
I pull back just enough to look into his eyes, overwhelmed with love. "We're really doing this."
