This story is my personal translation of my work, originally written in Russian. The original is still in progress and published on the Russian-language website "Ficbook", and is my personal work.
In this regard, I apologize in advance for any errors in the text that you may encounter. I welcome corrections directly in the comments, as it will improve the quality of my translation and the story in general. English is not my first or even second language, but I am intensively developing my skills. I also wouldn't mind if you tell me whether I'm formatting the dialogues correctly, since the visual style is different from Russian and is not yet familiar to me.
Alina Belikova is a collective image, partially based on me, your author from Kazakhstan, and inspired by Alla Ilchun, a French model of Russian-Kazakh origin. The work examines era-appropriate racism and the devaluation of small cultures of the Soviet Union (Kazakhs, in particular). This doesn't mean I support it. For me, as an author of Kazakh origin, it is important to describe this phenomenon and its impact on the main character. In the role of Alina, my work features Kazakh actress Aliya Telebarisova (Anuarbek).
The story will also mention terms inherent to the Soviet society of old times, and if you have any questions regarding specific terms or historical events, do not hesitate to ask questions in the comments, I will be happy to answer and help you figure it out. I will also footnote some terms and words at the end of the chapter for your convenience.
This is my first time publishing a story on this site. I'm still learning it, so visual adjustments may be possible as I publish this work. Thank you for your understanding!
