Ever since I started high school, I've always lived under my brother's shadow, having millions of expectations waiting for my reach. Xu Minghao had always been known as the ace of every single subject plus an all rounder in dancing. However, it was never something I worried about the most as I was nearly just as exceptional as he was. It was rather his friends that were more of a problem.
I remember when I had no choice but to tag along with my brother's hangouts with his friends since I was too small to stay alone at home. Every time I wanted to do my own thing, Minghao would use his brother card which is why his friends, especially his closest one, Junhui, became a brother to me. The fact that everything I did would end up in Minghao's ears annoyed me the most.
At the end of my biology class, I was assigned by my teacher to discuss on our upcoming experiment that will be done next lesson with a boy in my class. I was very eager to get things done early so I approached him and offered to walk down to the cafeteria together.
Just as I almost reached the staircase, an extremely familiar figure went past me but I didn't get to see who it was and it disappeared from my sight. I immediately turned around due to curiosity and regret it instantly. I watched as Jun turn around with an arched eyebrow before flashing me with the sneakiest grin I've ever seen. I started to panic knowing it wouldn't take long before Jun delivered this news to Minghao.
I sigh at the sight of Jun rushing back to his classroom but couldn't leave my poor classmate who was still talking and mentally cursed myself for forgetting about us sibling's classrooms being on the same floor.
I anxiously waited till school ended but my maths teacher had to let us go 5 minutes late, leaving Minghao just enough time to wait by the door. Because of the many rumours that broke out in this school, almost everyone knows Minghao is my brother. I heard mine and my brother's name come out of the mouths of many of my classmates when they exited the classroom.
I rushed out, wanting to avoid him before he got hold of me. However, my short legs made it impossible. Minghao swung his arm around my shoulder, leaning his heavy body on me as support. I stumbled a bit since he gained weight and tried flicking his arm off but failed miserably.
"So, my dearest little sister" the boy starts, "something you have to tell your brother?"
"No," I simply said, "I don't have to."
"Then let me say something. I didn't know you had a boyfriend," Minghao stares with an arched brow, trying to find answers from my expression.
"No!" I exclaimed, "That's just stupid."
"Then tell me why Jun said he saw you with a boy with a smiley grin," he rebutted.
I took a deep breath, trying to contain my annoyment on my brother. I had him wait till we finally reached the school gate and got inside the car. Minghao was getting impatient and started pinching my arm.
"Ow! I'll tell you," I told my brother. He stopped and made me face him.
"He's just a classmate assigned by my teacher to discuss on the rat dissection experiment for the next lesson." I explained, not even knowing why I needed to in the first place. Minghao nods his head slowly, still remaining quiet.
"Classmate, nothing more so stop asking questions just because Jun thought so," I said before turning my head away from him.
After a silent minute during the ride home, I heard my brother's voice ring in my ears again.
"The movies?" Minghao asked, "It's on me."
"With your friends again?" I asked, knowing exactly thats how he apologises.
