-HER-

My head was throbbing painfully when I woke up the following day. It had been a while since I had felt like this. I groaned and sat up, clutching my temple. My tongue felt like sandpaper, and my throat was aching.

Everything around me seemed to be moving slowly, or maybe my brain was processing things slowly because I didn't remember going to sleep last night. I didn't even remember where I was.

The first thing I noticed about the unfamiliar room was the huge window letting in the natural sunlight, providing a breathtaking view of the city.

Where the fuck was I? I checked my body mentally, and everything seemed fine except for the throbbing pain in my head. I found it odd that I wasn't in my nightdress.

I got out of bed and searched for the bathroom but found it easily. I tried to recall where I was and how I got there while I did my business. I looked myself in the mirror and yelped in surprise. I looked terrible as well.

From all these things, it was clear that I must have drunk a lot last night. That was another odd thing. I had a drinking problem in the past, but I had gotten rid of it. However, sometimes I ended up having too much drink here and there, but still, it never ended this badly.

When I stepped out of the bathroom, someone was waiting for me, sitting at the side of the bed. As soon as I saw him, I remembered every fucking thing, making my heart race.

Grim scanned me from head to toe with a thoughtful look before offering me a warm smile. "How do you feel, mate?" He asked.

Mate. I was his mate. I had found my mate, and he was an Underlord. How could I've forgotten then? And last night, I drank while having dinner with him. I blanched thinking about it.

Grim must've read my expression because he asked warily, "Are you alright?" He stood up, stalking towards me, but I ignored him and started searching for my shows instead. I felt his eyes on me as I looked for them.

I spotted them in a corner and took the longest time to wear my shoes, staying silent and pretending that he wasn't standing in the middle of his bedroom, watching me heatedly.

"I need to go," I spoke quietly after a while, avoiding his gaze. He stepped before me, tipping my chin up to meet his gaze by placing a finger under my chin.

"I asked you something," He stated, his voice firm and assertive. I swallowed hard, unable to look into his dark eyes without feeling overwhelmed by all my suppressed emotions.

"I'm fine," I pushed hoarsely, "But I need to go," I tried to sound calm about it, keeping the panic inside. He searched my face, not convinced by my blatant lie. I was hoping he wouldn't push me further. I needed to get back home and have time to gather my thoughts, or else I'd burst into flames. It didn't help how his touch seemed to ignite something forbidden inside me.

"I'll drop you home after breakfast," He stated, taking my hand and tugging me to my feet.

"I don't feel like eating," I blurted out, even though I had a whole zoo throwing a ruckus in my stomach. I needed to go home soon. I needed to get away from him as quickly as possible. But the intense look he was giving me had me doubting my plans. He scanned men from head to toe but didn't say anything, leading me out of his bedroom instead.

"Do you have work today?" He asked, leading me to the garage and helping me get inside a car.

"Yes," I lied, putting the seatbelt on. I didn't have work until tomorrow, but he didn't need to know. He slipped into the driver's seat and closed the door. The garage door opened, and soon, we were on the road, driving downhill.

I felt entrapped in the small space with him, especially with how close his hand seemed to get to my thighs whenever he reached for the gear.

"What are you going to tell them?" He asked, a hint of amusement in his voice as he stared at the road. "Are you going to tell them about me?" He asked, giving me a curious glance.

"No," I hissed, trying to concentrate with the throbbing pain in my head. I was going to take some pills as soon as I got home. "They don't need to know,"

"So this is going to be a secret, huh?" He teased, "I find that exciting." Something dark rang in his voice, but I didn't read too much into it; I was too anxious.

"Why?" I asked.

"It's scandalous, and scandals are always exciting, don't you think?" He asked darkly, placing his warm, heavy hand over my thigh across the gear while he drove with the other hand. I let out a shaky breath, feeling the warmth of his hand seep through my stockings and get to my thigh before travelling between them. I swallowed the little whimper that was on the tip of my tongue.

"And they are dangerous," I stated, placing my hand on his before he could take it further up. He took my hand in his and squeezed it.

"That's the point," He grinned, his eyes on the road. "That's what makes it exciting,"

"And you love that?" I couldn't help but ask. Of course, he'd be into such a thing. He was an Underlord, after all.

"You can say that," He spoke, retrieving his hand to change the gear before returning it to my lap, holding my hand. I should've resisted his touch, but I didn't. It disturbed me deeply, but I pretended to be unaware of it. "We're there," He announced, snapping me out of my thoughts.

I wanted to ask him how he knew where I lived, but I didn't. Of course, he knew where I lived. He must've done a thorough background check on me before agreeing to do my work.

As soon as I noticed we were in front of my apartment building, I reached for the door, which was locked. I turned to look at him to find him staring at me heatedly. Suddenly, the walls of the car seemed to be closing on me, pushing me against him.

"Unlock the door," I spoke, keeping my voice firm but polite.

"Kiss me," He demanded heatedly.
