Chapter 2Wind fluttered into the apartment, gently fluttering the curtains in a greeting in its way to breeze above Avery where he lies on his temporary bed aka the couch.
His hands lay on his flat belly where his barely 4 weeks baby resides. The tears still fall from his now bloodshot eyes as he stares at the ceiling. The events of the day before still plays in front of his eyes. Every breath he took. Every sound he heard. Every moan. Every groan. He can still feel the cold air of the apartment against his skin, his socked feet cold even with insulation. His boy- ex-boyfriend likes turning the AC down all day, even in winter, Avery gets cold easily.
The scenes didn't stop replaying in his mind. The curtains drawn shut. The can even smell the over processed cheap flowery perfume that he would never in his life by opting for a natural perfume, more expensive but worth it, at least he doesn't smell like a hooker trying to get attention.
Sighing, he gets up from the couch, the throw blanket sliding to his waist. He didn't want to use any of the blanket from the bed, or even use the bed for that matter. From the moment his boy - EX - boyfriend left with his boy toy, that he can't use the bed, the linens or the blankets ever again. He was going to throw them away. All of it. As a matter of fact, he was going to move as well. He'd rather pay the penalty for the leases than stay even one more week in the apartment.
First thing first, he needs to get up, refresh and eat something, then he'll search for a new place.
With hair still wet, dripping water on his shoulder socking his shirt, he enters the kitchen in hopes of finding something to eat. He is met with dishes in the sink as soon as the light is on, illuminating the kitchen in that Florescent bright light. Anger surges through his body at the prospect of that whore eating from the precious dinner wear. It was a gift from his parents when he moved out. His ex knew that. He knew they were precious to his heart. Not even he uses them except for special occasions.
Avery balled his hands, squeezing hard that he was sure red, angry crescent marks were indented on the skin of his palm. He needed to calm down, or he'll go to his ex, probably crashing at his friend's house, if not the boy toy's, he'll grab his head and smash it into the nearest wall. His baby, though, didn't deserve the angry he subjected to right now. Taking deep breaths, the stratus to the sink to wash and dry the dinner wear so he doesn't think about it anymore.
Placing the last plate to dry, he goes to the fridge hoping to find something to eat. The fridge is almost empty. They hadn't gone grocery shopping this week yet, and he's almost thankful for that if his fridge was not empty except for a lemon, condiments and a lone cup of strawberry flavored yogurt, his favored.
With now a half empty cup of yogurt in hand and computer on his lap, he scrolls through dozens of ads for apartments. He was going to give up the search till he reached one that was almost too good to be true. It was one for a one-bedroom apartment. On the other side of the city, the more expensive side. This one though, was listed for almost half the price he'd see for in this neighborhood. The apartment had an open layout, with a storage room and a balcony.
With a giddy smile, he booked a viewing in the afternoon. That same afternoon. After pressing the submit button, he closed his computer and got up to start getting ready.
He doesn't know where life is going to take him, but he's hoping that this is a new start to a life of peace and happiness with his baby, even if he is sad now.
