[tem-pest: a violent windy storm]

River Anise had always known there was something different about her. It wasn't in the way she dressed or even much in the things she liked. She wasn't odd in the way that was noticeable, though her shining personality may make you believe otherwise.

The odd thing about River Anise was the things that no one could see. It was the way in which she recited an entire poem out loud to the class in English, when it was written in Greek. She had found it in a book and decided it was beautiful enough to read in their English classes weekly reading checks. It was in the way she would almost quite literally glow when she got too excited, which was admittedly often. It was in everything she did, and yet no one could place it.

It wasn't until River Anise turned 10 that she finally knew what it was that was different about herself. She was the daughter of a God and a mortal woman. That was certain to make her odd.

River Anise

'The Morning Sun'

'River Anise was like the morning sun. Her rays were gentle and calm, accompanied by a light breeze. Her light painted the skies with a beautiful array of colors that Percy thought no painter could ever truly capture.'

Percy Jackson

'The Calm Before the Storm'

'Percy Jackson was like the calm before the storm. When the waters are the quietest and they lie still. He was the moment of peace between everything that happened. He was the silence that befell her before it all fell apart, and she reveled in it.'
