Morning hits. It's only 6:30. But Papillon already had her eyes open. Stretching and yawning, she sat up and pulled off the covers, only to see the sheriff leaning against her bed, fast asleep.
"If it weren't for me the he would be more comfortable in his own bed instead of the cold floor..." she sighed, feeling guilty for having Sheriff Labrador on the floor like this, all because of her. Swinging her legs off the bed, she stood up and put on her police hat, being carefully quiet so she doesn't wake up her sleeping crush. She changed into her police uniform and swished hair out of her eyes. She washed her face and left her rom, but as soon as she opened the door, the plain expression on her face shifted to confusion. Antela, who had been awake for hours, was standing over a table, two little necklace jewlries sitting on its wooden base. She turned around and smiled sweetly.
"Good morning Papillon!" she exclaimed. "I was up all night inventing these necklaces for you and Dobie! I made one for myself aswell, so it assembles our friendship!"
"But why didn't you make one for Sheriff Labrador?" Papillon questioned, thinking she already knows what Antela will answer with.
"I- uh.. I didn't have time to make one for him. Now come on, this necklace looks beautiful on you!" Antel giggled, fastening the jewlry around Papillon's neck. Papillon's eyes twinkled at the shiny piece of chained metal. The thing looked like it was embroidered with pretty emeralds and rubies, along with a diamond-like shimmer. 'This is actually really good,' she thought, still feeling a bit groggy. When it was much later, somewhere around 10:33, both Papillon and Dobie were wearing the necklaces.
"Since when could you style jewlry like this?" Dobie asked excitedly, obviously very enthusiastic about the beauty of the object around his neck. Antel laughed and started to brag noisily about her crafting skills. Papillon (who was secretly covering her ears so she didn't hear the noisy words of this crazy woman) noticed Sheriff Labrador walking towards them, already dressed smartly in uniform and his face looking smooth as usual. He looked in a good mood.
"Hey, I was thinking of-" he began to speak, but suddenly, their necklaces started to change to green, while Antela's became red. Her lips moved in silent words. A zing of what felt like electricity flew around Papillon's mouth, and she blurted out "Shut it! I've just realised that Antela is a much beter sheriff that you'll ever be!" She quickly covered her mouth, small tears emerging in her eyes as she processed what she just said. Antela moved her eyes towards Dobie.
"Yeah, maybe you should just quit! We never even liked you anyway!" Dobie yelled aswell, then he also covered his mouth. What in the world was going on? Why were they saying such things? Antela looked upon them, her lips curved in a smirk.
"What..." Sheriff Labrador murmured, also trying to digest their words. Instincts kicked in and emotions started to boil. He flipped the crafting table angrily and stormed off in a hurry, obviously hurt and upset.
"Wait no, we didn't mean-" Papillon reached out her hand and tried to call for him, but she felt her lips clamp tight. She quickly tore off the necklace and threw it away and felt her mouth move freely again. "Dobie, it's the necklaces!"
