As she strolled along the pavement, her hair catching the sunlight in a shimmering display. Her attire consisted of black shorts with contrasting white lines and a oversized purple shirt that had various art styles of watermelons popsicles. She made her way to the school's gym seeking a specific club for her first day, as her status of being a recent transferred student at Shinka Shīkensu as a first year. Made quite a stir throughout the school grounds, she figured it would be easy to join clubs, and by the notion that her current status might pave an easier path to companionship.
Amidst the bustling soundscape of footsteps, squeaking shoes, and murmured conversations, she remained keenly attuned to her surroundings.
They must be who I'm looking for...
Two figures, one with black hair and piercing blue eyes, the other with tousled dirty blond locks and warm brown eyes, captured her attention. They appeared to fit the description her counselor had provided. The former, wearing a light blue jacket, gripped a volleyball with hands crossed over, nails digging into the outer cover of the ball. While the latter, wearing a gray hoodie held a basketball, both attired in gym shorts and sneakers. An unexpected sight was why they looked ready for basketball match.
Approaching them, she observed their exchange with a mixture of curiosity and apprehension, the one with blond hair broke the silence with a casual greeting. "Yo, what's up?" He chimed, his demeanor welcoming, yet laid back. "You must be the new girl. Name's Kai." Beside him, the one with black hair, nodded in agreement, offering his own introduction. "I'm Kaito."
"Hi, I'm Y/n." You introduced yourself, taking a few steps closer, your gaze focused primarily on Kaito, given his hold on the volleyball. "Do you happen to know who I can talk to about signing up for the volleyball team?"
They both appeared taken aback, exchanging sidelong glances before responding. It seemed that volleyball wasn't a widely pursued sport here, perhaps one would partake such an interest as a hobby..nothing more.
In this school, formalities were eschewed in favor of using first names, a difference from the norm in Japanese culture, where formal titles were often preferred. Another reason why this school was different than most. You suspected since the RPG incorporated your changes, how volleyball was a underrated sport at Shinka—that it made its personal mission to follow your values of creating a storyboard you could work with, develop alongside itself.
