Chapter 8: Out Of Touch

"You guys got this territory?" I asked, amazed as we drove down a wide, rocky road through a large grassy field the size of five football stadiums.

Derek nodded his head. "Yeah, two of the largest packs in California thought if they joined together they could take us on."

There was a pregnant pause.

"We didn't lose a single solider."

"Why did you take the territory here?" I questioned, wondering why they had not just stayed in England, but this time a deeper voice answered.

"The territory had always had its flaws," Arsen had begun. "but somehow the packs had been able to slip in and through the territory undetected. We found a few areas that had caves and tunnels, but we still believe there are more. We gave our old territory to the few remaining pack members and took theirs."

I nodded. "How large is your new
pack territory?"

"Three thousand seven hundred thirty six acres." he informed me and my eyes bulged. The largest territory had already belonged to them at two thousand five hundred acres, but this was probably one of the, of not the, largest pack territory of all time.

"Would you possibly be able to stay the night?" Raven groaned out from the back of the car. "I'm already in enough pain, I don't wanna deal with a bunch a twats all day fussing over me by myself."

I sarcastically pouted. "Awe, poor baby. Getting people to do things for you and devote their time to your well being for a few days. You tortured soul."

She sent me a sideways sneer, bearing me her sharp, alabaster incisors.

"Love you too." I sang, unbuckling my seat, hearing a song I loved playing on the radio quietly, and leaned over the passenger seat, turning up the volume to an obnoxiously high level.

"Nice rack." Derek said playfully, since my chest had ended up close to his face.

Arsen locked his jaw and his grip on the steering wheel tightened, the hard metal crushing under his tight grip.

I decided to ignore both men and broke out in song with a drugged Raven.

We both danced stupidly to the music before reciting all the verses by memory.

"She left me and said
Baby won't you come to bed
But I can not sleep
While the sun's awake

The nights been so long
You don't get me right, don't get me wrong
Now my head tells the tales
I hardly know"

We both pretended to hold imaginary guitars and threw our bodies and heads back and fourth in a way that really shouldn't legally be aloud to be called dancing.

"I remember T-shirt weather
I remember some days
We were singing our lungs out
in the backseat together
And the seatbelts were burning our fingers
In the T-shirt weather
I remember sleeping till the early afternoon"

Raven and I hopped to the front and we both sang with all our hearts to the extremely irritated men sitting in the front seats.

"Drinks fly like birds
Across the kitchen trouble stirs
And I'm tongue-tied by words
I used to know
