Chapter 12

Loukraiza lifted her wand and shot a bolt of lightning at Arabesque but Ara was quick and she dodged it. Arabesque returned Loukraiza’s shot with a huge gust of wind that knocked the witch to the ground. Loukraiza got up and lit a flame on the end of her wand and flung it at Ara. This time Loukraiza’s shot did not miss and Ara was pushed to the ground. Arabesque pulled herself up and sent a ball on blinding light hurdling at Loukraiza. Loukraiza was flung to the ground but she stood up again and began to create a bigger fire ball. Before Loukraiza could fling it Arabesque threw a massive ball of light that flung Loukraiza across the room. As this happened something fell from Loukraiza’s pocket and skidded across the floor towards Arabesque. Ara knelt down and picked it up.

            “The key”, cried Ara.

Arabesque stood and admired the key for a moment. Mean while Loukraiza pulled herself up and began to quietly make a powerful bolt of lightning.

“What is it about this key”, Ara thought to herself? “I keep seeing it”.

Loukraiza slowly raised her wand with the lightning bolt ready and waiting.

“Oh course”, cried Ara, “this key is the key. Loukraiza controls things with it. She controlled my thoughts with it. In order to rid Loukraiza of her power I must destroy the key.

Arabesque lifted her wand and just as Loukraiza hurled her lightning bolt, Ara smashed the key into oblivion with a huge flaming ball. All at once Loukraiza and the mist filled room vanished and Arabesque found herself back in the throne room where all of her friends were waiting for her.

“Jillian”, cried Lorraliell, running towards her, “you have done it. You have saved Gantailzia from Loukraiza”.

Lorraliell flung her arms around Arabesque and gave her a big hug.

“Now I can take control of my kingdom once again”, said Lorraliell. “Thank you”.

            “Thank you”, said Ara.

“And thank you Lezt, Menko, and especially Velxin”, continued Lorraliell. “Without you none of this would have been possible”.

“What will you all do now”, asked Ara?

“I will go to Horrilen’s house to live out the rest of my days if it is all right with you your majesty”, said Menko.

            Lorraliell nodded.

“And I will return to my uncles hut”, said Lezt, “but I think that I will learn how to do something useful. I have always been interested in agriculture”.

“I do not know what I will do next”, said Velxin. “I have spent all of my life trying to help and protect Gantailzia. I am not sure what I should do now”.

“Perhaps”, said Lorraliell, “you can continue to help our fair kingdom but in a slightly different way. Your services and bravery for our land have been great and since we are already joined by a bond that can only be broken by death itself I would be honored if you would enter yet another powerful bond with me. The bond of matrimony”.

“I thank you your majesty”, answered Velxin, “and I would be more than happy to grant your request for I have been impressed with your courage and bravery in our fight for freedom too”.

Lorraliell smiled as Velxin took her hand.

“What about you Arabesque”, asked Lorraliell, “what will you do now”?

“I have found who I really am here in this beautiful kingdom”, answered Ara, “but I have lived with the Langsley’s so long that I feel that they are my true family. I think that I would like to return to my farm but I would like to come back and see you again if you will permit it your majesty”.

“You are welcome in Gantailzia whenever you wish Ara”, answered Lorraliell, “for you are my closest friend”.

            “Thank you”, said Arabesque.

“Would you like to return right away Ara”, asked Lorraliell?

“I hate to leave you all”, answered Ara, “but I guess that now is a good a time as any.”

“If you go back up to the magic transport it will take you home”, said Lorraliell. “Good bye and good luck Arabesque”.

“Good bye”, said Velxin and Menko, “we will miss you”.

            “Good bye”, said Lezt.

“Good bye every one”, said Arabesque. “I will miss you all so much”.

Everyone’s eyes filled with tears and they all embraced each other in one last hug. Ara waved good bye and she walked slowly out of the room and up the stairs towards the little room.

“Ara”, a voice called behind her.

Arabesque turned around and saw Lezt running towards her. He came up to her, took her in his arms and kissed her softly.

“Come back soon”, Lezt whispered. “I will miss you terribly”.

Arabesque smiled and nodded and then hugged Lezt again. They waved good bye once more and then Ara opened the door to the little room and stepped in. She climbed the stairs and opened the door at the top. Once again she had to shield her eyes from the blinding light that lay before her. She stepped into the transport and was whooshed through the pool of bright colors again and when she emerged she found herself back in the yard on her farm.

“Jillian, Jillian”, called her brothers and sisters!

“I’m here”, Ara called back, “and I have got the most marvelous story to tell you”.

“Yeah”, cried her siblings, gathering around her.

Ara spent hours that day and many days after telling her siblings of the wonderful adventures she had had. Her brothers and sisters took the story as just another fairy tale but Ara knew how real it all was. If she ever wanted to return to Gantailzia she needed only to wish it. She had to fight back the urge to return right away everyday but she knew that she should stay and get used to her life on the farm again. Ara often considered that she might like to move to Gantailzia permanently one day but until then she would just visit now and then. In the weeks that followed her adventures Arabesque thought of Gantailzia often and she planned every detail of her next visit to the kingdom.

One day a couple of months later Arabesque was walking through her favorite spot in the forest when she was sure that she saw something move in the bushes. She looked closer and she saw a strange little creature, about the size of a child with pointed ears. The creature turned around and looked at Ara.

“Arabesque”, said the creature, “Gobdiron must see you in Gantailzia immediately. The kingdom needs your help”.
