Meera pov:

My heart?

It didn't just skip a beat — it basically threw a full tantrum inside my chest.

I turned around, fully expecting it to be someone unimportant like a teacher or a random senior asking for water bottle donations or something. But no.

Of course not.

God had bigger plans today.

Because standing there — right there, in the middle of the hallway like he owned the oxygen — was Adrian.

I just stood there like a broken statue, blinking.

My brain? Dead.
My mouth? Useless.
My knees? Hello, jelly.

And then he smiled at me. That smile.

I swear the Earth tilted.

"Hey there, Fresa!" he called out casually, like it was totally normal to come back after YEARS looking like a Spanish hero and casually drop a nickname on me.

I blinked again. "Ha–ha what?"

My cheeks betrayed me completely. I probably looked like a boiled tomato wearing lip gloss.

Next to me, Elena and Dahlia were already side-eyeing me so hard I felt personally attacked.

"Back to Earth, Meera?" Elena teased, elbowing me lightly. I was about to hiss at her when—

Adrian laughed.

And oh my god. His laugh.

It wasn't fair. Boys shouldn't be allowed to sound that... international.

He walked closer, all calm and chill and with that same confident walk like he'd just walked out of a Zara ad. His shirt was open at the neck — very casually sinful — and his sleeves were rolled just enough to flex his forearms like he knew what he was doing.

Of course he did. Spaniards.

"This is Luis," he said, gesturing to the tall guy on his left who had a super warm, toothpaste-commercial smile. "And this is Diego," he added, pointing to the other guy who looked like he could've been the class clown and the heartbreaker at the same time.

I blinked, smiled awkwardly and did the most tragic wave ever.

"Hello," I squeaked.

Kill me now.

I could literally feel my soul exiting my body from second-hand embarrassment.

"Guys," I finally managed, turning to Elena and Dahlia, trying to act normal even though my entire stomach was doing Bharatanatyam. "This is Adrian."

Elena raised her brows, clearly dying to ask if this was the Adrian. Dahlia had already picked up on the vibe and was doing her mysterious smirk thing.

Adrian gave them a slight nod, but I swear he never stopped looking at me.

Like — not even for one second.

What the hell??

Then came Diego.

That man grinned and went, "Well, well, well... this chico here wouldn't stop talking about you, Fresa!"

I gasped audibly. Adrian whipped his head toward Diego so fast I thought he'd pop a nerve.

"Diego!" he warned like a dad catching his kid mid-lie.

Diego just laughed and raised his hands. "Okay okay, I surrender! Not your Fresa, Meera."

I just stood there smiling awkwardly, cheeks burning.
