You were curled up in a den for the night. The chill of the cool October night was no match for your thick luxurious coat. You were comfortable to say the least.

However, your ears perked up at the sound of snapping branches. You didn't move a muscle, other than your sensitive ears, turning them into the direction of the disturbance. Listening carefully for any danger that could be lurking.

Nothing. You listened for a bit longer. Absolute silence. Not even scurrying of smaller animals. It wasn't an eerie silence though. Probably just a branch that snapped from the weight of the snow. You thought to yourself.

You rolled your eyes and closed them again. Quieting your mind. Letting the calm night and the silence of the forest lull you into a deep slumber since you were too tired from not sleeping during the day like usual.
*******

When the crack of dawn came, you slowly opened your eyes yawning. Crawling out of the den and stretching your limbs and shaking the sleep from your body, ruffling your fur a bit.

You lifted your snout the air, sniffing out some game for you to hunt as you haven't been able to find food as easily since there was a different beast of the night hunting on your grounds. As the pads of your paws met the forest floor, farther and farther away from your den, closer to the edge of the entry. You caught the scent of something.

Bingo. European Hare for breakfast.

Putting your nose close to the ground, but not touching, you began to sniff out your prey, skillfully tracking the small game. After about 20 minutes, the scent started getting fresher and fresher, causing your mouth to start salivating. The large hare, maybe 7 pounds at the most.

Once your target was in sight, you carefully and quietly maneuver yourself to attack from behind. Right as you were about to lunge forward, voices from the outskirts of the forest startled your first decent meal in days away.

Fucking humans and their mischief. You thought, causing a short, deep growl to emerge from your throat and vibrate through your chest.

You began chasing what would've been an easy meal.

"W..what was that?" The red-headed boy choked out. The brunette boy turned his head to his friend. "What noise? I didn't hear anything?" He said, tone laced in slight confusion as his brows knitted together.

The redhead gulped, letting his fear take over him. "Let's head back." He says in a slight squeak.

After a few minutes of the young boys arguing about the redhead being scared and paranoid, they hadn't noticed you made your way back the edge of the Dark Forest.

You didn't want to hurt them, you just wanted to scare them away from the forest, away from the possible lurking dangers, even in the light of day. You stepped out quietly, managing to not get noticed by the young duo.

Wizards... of course. You thought as you seen them gripping their wands.

"I'm telling you, Snape is After the stone." You heard one of the two young boys say confidently.

You stood about 20 feet behind the brunette boy, putting yourself in a stand-off stance, flashing your large sharp teeth, purposely letting your saliva drip from your mouth, emitting a low, stern, purposeful growl. Wishing for them to turn around and run like the wind.

You truly didn't want to hurt them. Only protect them and scare them away from the edge of the forest. As the red-headed boy turned around slowly, he immediately took notice of how large in size you were.
