This would be, kind of, a response to SR corrupting Bryan.
Bryan was SR's puppet in S1, but any encounter they had with each other afterwards, Bryan could never be a puppet to SR again.
Even when he still held heavy fear towards SR, Bryan refused to be SR's puppet, and stood up to them.
