A/N – Thinking about plot points in season 2, and where Diana (and Daryl) could show off their werewolf-ness, I already have it planned that Jenner will have made a comment to Rick about their blood or something (I did ask on my 'wall' about werewolf DNA being more wolf than human and there wasn't a clear consensus about it but as they are immune to the 'wildfire' virus, there will be something in that too) and I was thinking that the two people (Dave and Tony) that Rick, Glenn and Herschel meet in the town bar might be werewolves and Diana will show her her werewolf side at that moment to defend them. Perhaps only one of them is a werewolf (Dave; the one played by Baelfire from OUAT/Renee from True Blood; because he appears to be the more 'dominant' of the two of them) and this would also be Diana's first experience with one of her own people shifting in the way that the humans have given that it's the end of the world, taking on a less werewolf aspect in the social sense as I have commented already about the hierarchy and the way that they live. It would be Diana's first real look at her own people turning feral.
.......
The sound of the car alarm is louder by the time Diana reaches the main camp, so it is getting closer to the camp. It could very well be a threat. Someone using noise to draw walkers up to them. Diana moves to Amy's side as she and the rest of the camp all stand around, cautious and alarmed.
"What's going on?" Diana asks as she ties her hair back again. Amy shakes her head and shrugs. It's clearly a car alarm, but it's moving at some speed and heading towards them. It comes into sight soon enough, at least for Diana, the red car barrelling down the dirt road towards them. Diana moves forward, wanting to be at the front of the group to get a better look, but of course, Shane sees that as her running towards danger. Shane's arm shoots out across her chest to stop her from moving forward. Diana glares at his arm but doesn't physically remove it from her as she doubts it would make much difference right now. His focus is on keeping her back from whatever threat is coming. At this moment, she sees a lot of Derek and a lot of Scott in him. Of course, that is about where the similarities end. She has seen him in this leadership role for almost 2 months now and she has seen exactly what type of leader he is. It's not one she would choose to follow. But by the time she figured that out, she'd grown attached to the rest of the group. She couldn't leave them and keep a clear conscience. So she stayed. And so far, she hasn't had to step out of line to defend the survivors, but she will if she has to.
"I'll be damned" Dale states from the top of the Winnebago parked at the edge of the camp border. He's sort of the unofficial lookout, simply because he has the only pair of binoculars in the group. Which, no offence to Dale, seems stupid considering his age. They don't know his medical history, he could have really bad eyesight and yet he's their spotter. That doesn't seem smart. Their problem is that they didn't pool their resources and jobs and then assign them accordingly and equally.
"What is it?" Amy asks the older man, well, the oldest man of the group, because he is the oldest survivor of the group
"A stolen car is my guess" He answers as he lowers the binoculars to look down at the rest of the group. There are some concerned glances. Some feel this might be their supply run getting back.
"One of ours?" Diana counters, Dale shrugs back at her. There is a tense beat as they all process her question. It could literally be anyone coming towards them at speed. It doesn't take long for the car to pull up to the camp. The alarm still blaring and echoing all around them and the quarry beyond. It's a beacon to walkers. Any sound draws them in. It's a huge risk having it here and making this much noise. Diana cringes slightly as it assaults her hearing, rubbing her ear on her shoulder to try and shield herself without making it too obvious but that noise is enough to be abrasive to even human hearing. Glenn climbs out of the car after cutting the engine and smiles at the group watching him with varying expressions.
"Hi" He greets and holds up a hand in a wave but lowers it as Dale, Jim, and Shane make their way towards him with scolding looks on their face.
"Holy crap. Turn that damn thing off!" Dale scolds him.
"I don't know how!" Glenn admits with a shrug. He's not mechanically minded so of course, he won't know how to fix this mess but it likely means that this wasn't his plan.
"Pop the hood, please. Pop the damn hood, please." Shane demands.
"My sister Andrea..." Amy asks rushing forward to get answers. But they are all talking over one another and Glenn doesn't have the chance to do anything or answer as they are thrown at him.
"Pop the damn hood!" Shane snaps louder and Glenn jumps a little turning to look at him.
"What?" Glenn asks and Shane motions to the car. "Okay okay. Yeah yeah yeah. Yeah yeah!" Glenn races back to the car and does as he is told. Amy follows after Glenn.
"Is she okay? Is she all right?" She asks him. Shane can disconnect the battery to turn the alarm off. Glenn leans out of the car to talk to Amy.
"She's okay! She's okay!" He assures her softly.
"Is she coming back?
"Yes!" Glenn answers, but it is not enough for Amy. She just wants proper confirmation that Andrea is alright. As any sister would.
"Why isn't she with you? Where is she? She's okay?" Amy asks him, staring at him, wishing that he'll give her that hope"
"Yes! Yeah, fine. Everybody is." Glenn then pauses and pulls a face. "Well, Merle not so much"
"Are you crazy, driving this wailing bastard up here? Are you trying to draw every Walker for miles?" Shane scolds Glenn who does shrink a little at the anger in his voice.
"I think we're okay" Dale tries to diffuse Shane's anger here. He's perhaps right that it is a risk, but it is not worth yelling at Glenn for. Not right now.
"You call being stupid okay?" Shane argues, shaking his head.
"Well, the alarm was echoing all over these hills. Hard to pinpoint the source. I'm not arguing. I'm just saying. It wouldn't hurt you to think things through a little more carefully next time, would it?"
"Sorry," Glenn offers before his eyes spot Diana. He jogs towards her and smiles brightly at her. "Got a cool car," Glenn tells Diana who smirks a little, joy is hard to come by nowadays and Glenn has just found a sliver of it in a cool new car. he digs around in his pocket with an excited smile on his face. "And this" He adds and then holds up a clear beaded bracelet. "Pretty enough?" Diana touches the bracelet and sighs softly. She knows she asked him to get her something, but it was more of a joke than anything else. She wasn't really expecting him to get her anything at all. She's touched. The last time anyone gave her anything was the knife in her pack and that was from Shane, and the gun she has that was given to her by Chris. And before that, it was the necklace that currently hangs around her neck which was given to her by her mother when she was a teenager more than ten years ago.
"Thank you," She tells him warmly as she takes the bracelet from him, sliding it onto her wrist just as a truck pulls in behind the car that Glenn drove into camp. She peers around Glenn who turns to look at it as the engine cuts.
"They're back" Amy states, relief and excitement flooding her with the realisation that her sister might have returned unharmed. Of course, they don't really know that yet, but it is a sign, a good sign, that Glenn is so happy. If they had lost anyone, he wouldn't be so chipper. Glenn would feel the loss. Glenn would be their first sign.
