"So it's not gonna be easy. It's gonna be really hard. We're gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, you and me, every day." -the notebook

After a swell ride with Zyon, we arrived at Holden's party. The driveway was packed with other highschoolers cars and you could hear the music blasting from the outside. I glanced at Zyon, fidgeting with my bracelet nervously.

Zyon patted my back, looking down at me. "Nothing to be afraid about, Jane, you look great. Just take a deep breath, okay?" Zyon reassured me. I followed his advice and took a deep breath.

"How are you always able to tell when I'm nervous?" I asked him. It was kind of like his superpower, and I never knew how he did it.

"Because, when you're nervous, you start fidgeting with your grandmothers bracelet. I know you, Jane." He said as he slightly smiled. Before I could say anything, though, Zyon was dragging into the party. I must've looked either like an idiot or super hot because I was getting stares from everyone.

I started to feel this slight pit in my stomach as my heart began racing.
Today was the day I would finally attempt my move on Holden. My heart fluttered at the thought of him, his charming smile, and those piercing blue eyes that seemed to see right through me. He checked off every mark on my list.

Handsome? Check
Funny? Check
Dreamy? Check
Smart? Check

As I was forcefully dragged into the party by Zyon, I was able to spot Holden immediately, chatting with Alexis Montez, next to this drunk couple making out in the corner. He looked handsome and super casual.

Zyon followed my gaze and nudged me with his elbow. "There he is. Time to work your magic, Jane."

"What magic?" I whispered under my breath doubtfully. I took a deep breath and plastered on a confident smile as we approached Holden and Alexis.

"Hey, Holden! Alexis!" I greeted them, trying to ignore the fluttering in my stomach. I looked back at Zyon, and he did this cheeky smile and two thumbs up.

Holden's eyes lit up when he saw me, and my heart skipped a beat. "Hey, Jane, was it? You made it. Looking good," he said, giving me a once-over that sent tingles down my spine. How did he know my name? And he thought I looked good?!

"Thanks," I replied, feeling a blush creeping up my cheeks. "This is some cool party, yeah?" I said, trying to make casual talk. I had no idea what I was doing and wished I had the social skills of Zyon.

"Oh, for sure! It was lexi's idea to come." Alexis, on the other hand, barely glanced in my direction before turning back to Holden with a disdainful look. "Come on, Holden. Let's go get some drinks," she said, grabbing his arm and pulling him away before I could say another word.

I sighed, feeling defeated. I really disliked Alexis. She always had an issue with any girl who approached Holden but swore up and down that she only liked him as a friend. Zyon put a comforting hand on my shoulder. "Don't worry about her. Let's go grab some drinks ourselves."

"You know I don't drink. My tolerance is terrible -" Zyon smirked as he dragged me to the bar. "It's a party. You've got to loosen up, yeah? Just try not to drink too much. I know how you get."

We made our way to the makeshift bar, and Zyon handed me a red plastic cup filled with something fruity and potent. It was kind of like tequila with some kind of mixer. I took a sip.
