just like the shoes you wear on your feet
a thing that you can walk into the ground
until they're dirty and beat
you wear them over and over again until you get a new pair
and these shoes are shiny and clean
perfect in every way
so you replace your old shoes in turn for these cool new kicks
and the olds ones get pushed to the side
until they sit in the back of your closet for years collecting dust
that's how i feel
like the old pair of shoes that can easily be replaced with a couple dollars
left to linger in the back of your mind
until we meet again and you remember how much you loved me
and i shake the dust off just like those shoes
ready to be worn again
until you remember that you have something better anyways
and I'm placed back on that dark and dusty shelf
hoping and praying that one day you'll see me and want to wear me again
cause all i ever want is to be apart of your life
