Siren Song

The Underwater Kingdom

It was early morning by the time Hayley and her two Siren companions reached the depths of the underwater trench and the border of their kingdom. There are many other smaller kingdoms and towns hidden throughout the ocean, but the one Hayley called home was by far the largest and oldest of the kingdoms. Most of the other smaller kingdoms and towns were made from sandstone or greystone... but this kingdom called " Jardine" is made from hand carved green Jade stone, ranging from milky pale green to the deepest of dark greens. It's intricate carvings and glowing green rock, make it the most beautiful kingdoms known to the merkind. Only the wealthy are permitted to stay here. Or pure luck. Even the servants were considered lucky in Jardine, and somewhat wealthy compared to normal merpeople in other towns.

Hayley had been dumped at Jardines kingdom pool entrance as soon as her poor alcoholic uncle had realized he could. He realized she was becoming quite beautiful and had hoped someone out of pity would take her under their wing as a servant.
Hayleys parents had passed away during a trade gone wrong while she was only 3.. at their families small shop front. The people responsible for her parents' death, were respectfully beheaded by the lord of thier small town... and her uncle had become her legal guardian, not by his choice.
Her uncle meant well, but his addictions to alcohol, gambling and sustances made it impossible to be successful in trade or as a responsible parent role.

Hayleys mother "Edna" had been from a far away Village and met Hayleys father "Otto" while travelling with her merchant father, in a small trading town called "Borance" on the outskirts of the Jardine kingdom. This is where Hayley's parents took over Otto's families trade business.
Hayley had adopted her mothers exotic appearance from the warmer waters, with almost pitch black skin unlike the merpeople in the Jardine region. Most people in this part of the ocean were almost always pale colours...white to even pale green, purple or blue. Hayley adorned her father's almost neon white hair. This was quite a striking look with her almost midnight skin and even unheard of in her mothers township as most adorned warmer colours like reds, yellows and browns for tails. Hayleys mother had a dark red tail with dark black hair and Her father had pale white skin and a common brown coloured tail with no extra colour or shine, so it came to some shock when Hayleys tail was almost glowing white with silver ripples all over her tail and body. It was only fitting her tail matched her bright white hair. Hayley is deemed truely unique among her people.

When Hayleys Uncle lost the family business to debt years after hayleys parents death, he knew he could not look after Hayley the way she deserved, especially after almost tempted to sell her to some crooks for small coin.
He took Hayley to Jardines doorstep and abandoned her on the stair entrance. She was only 13 at the time and ignorant to what he had planned to do. He had hoped she would be pitied on, and someone would at least adopt her as a servant. It would be a better life then he could offer her.

Once Hayley was found by some guards at the kingdoms entrance, it became quick gossip about this "exotic beauty" dumped at the empires entrance. The king became curious about Hayley after hearing word about this mysterious beautiful young girl. He ordered her to be brought to the Palace to be considered as a Siren applicant, if of age.
Realising she was untrained and too young an uneducated to apply to be a Siren, the king ordered her to stay at the palace in its lower quarters and to receive training. Hayley did not know the Siren Song or its customs yet, so had to go through rigorous training and singing lessons. After many jealous threats from servants, court ladies and other palace residents because of the kings "special treatment" .. that she would be a no body or grow to not be the "kings favourite" and to be abandoned again or become a lowly servant... Hayley worked extra hard and commited to becoming a siren. It was not long before she had surpassed most of the other Siren applicants and had been blessed with becoming a soul hunter Siren at the age of 18.
