I found this among my poems and short stories. I don't remember where or who I got this poem from but I used it in a frame along with a little short poem or note to my father. To this day, this poem and note is still in a frame on their wall.

Father

Defender, protector, my dad is the best
When it comes to a big heart he tops all the rest
from diaper, and rattles to keys for the car
He has been there to guide me with a wide open arms

His loving embrace and soft spoken words
Give me courage and confidence to walk down the road
That is stretching before me like a treasure of gold

There are visions to cherish when remembering the past
All traveling together as our hands gently clasp
Complete understanding is shown in our eyes
When looking at him my heart swells with pride

God in His wisdom knew it was right
He blessed me with Dad as a guiding light
To show the best way from morning's fresh down
I'll love and admire all my life long

Dad, you have given life in this family.
Who could ask for anything more.
There had been times when you haven't been around
but you are the one who works so hard
to create a better place here in this family.
You are the one and only greatest Dad
there ever will be.
You may have the darkest hands but you will never
run out of love coming from our hearts.
