Diana's POV
I've been muckers with Gearoid for less than twelve hours and we've already been getting along so well. It made watching Give My Head Peace Live even more enjoyable. What I wanted to do more than watch the live show was to watch it with somebody close to me. It would have been my sister, Margaret. Except that she backed out from watching with me just yesterday because she got invited to go on a blind date tonight. With one extra ticket, I managed to convince Gearoid to sit with me and give his ticket to somebody else.
Now that the show is already done, I decided to try going doing stage door in hopes that I can convince Tim McGarry to let me join the Give My Head Peace production team. It has been my dream to work for the show. What gave me more confidence to push through with this was the fact that Gearoid decided to join me at the stage door.
"You got this, Diana." Gearoid told me, "I guarantee you, you'll be with a job when you get out of this theatre."
"Right." I said as I took a deep breath and waited for Tim McGarry to emerge from the stage door.
"Hey, if you get hired, care to buy me a pint?" Gearoid asked me.
"If I get hired." I replied, "I'm literally asking Tim McGarry to give me a job in his show. This isn't submitting your CV to the BBC Northern Ireland offices."
"Hi there!" A familiar voice said.
I looked up and it was the man, the myth, the legend himself Tim McGarry. Literally Tim McGarry. Right in front of me. I clutched to the envelope that had my portfolio and CV as I stared at him. If I was gobsmacked, so was Gearoid and Tim McGarry could clearly see the obvious looks on our beaks.
"Tim McGarry." I said as I cleared my throat, "That was a brilliant show out there. My mucker and I enjoyed it."
"Thanks!" Tim answered, "I'm glad you both liked tonight's show."
"I've been a huge fan of Give My Head Peace and..." I went on to say, "...I've been meaning to ask if it's possible for me to join the production crew next season. I've got experience with production work. I used to be part of the production staff for BBC Look East in Norwich. Here, I even brought my CV and portfolio for you to see."
Then I extended the envelope to Tim McGarry, hoping that he'll take it.
"Well, we've been looking for production staff lately," Tim replies, and I give a sigh of relief, "Why don't you come around tomorrow morning at ten and we can discuss this."
Then Tim got the envelope.
"And oh, bring your mucker with you." Tim added, "As I said, we need more production staff. The both of you could make a great addition to the team."
"Thank you, Tim McGarry." Gearoid and I said in unison.
"See you tomorrow, you two." Tim tells us as he walks away.
Then Gearoid looks at me and tells me, "Did he just offer me a job too?"
"He asked me to bring you here with me tomorrow." I told Gearoid, "What do you think does it look like?"
"The prospect of a job in the Give My Head Peace production team is nice and all but..." Gearoid spoke, "Where the buck am I supposed to live if I get the job?"
"Don't you have family here in Belfast?" I asked him.
"I used to," He answered, "Until they decided to move to Derry, except that it wasn't Derry here in the six counties but Derry as in the one in Sligo. By the time they realized that they bought a house in the wrong Derry, it was too late. They had already sold their house here in Belfast by then."
