Author's Note: I hope you like this first chapter! I feel we all know what it's like to be a Scarlett 💕🤪😘😜❤️🥳🤪 !!!!!
Today is my first day of high school after graduating from Bone Marrow Middle School! You see I am a red blood cell, as my ruby orbs gaze upon the steps of Heart High, I make my way to my home room class, Left Atrium 101. I'm a new transfer student so my teacher forces me to introduce myself in front of the class.
" H- he- hey, my name is scarlett. I like transporting oxygen." I say, as I bite my lip out of a nervous habit. Ms. Mitral directs me to the back of the class, there is one empty seat. I turn to my desk partner, he is tall and brooding, I feel if I get any closer he could crush me with a smirk. I almost don't dare to ask.
"Ummm, wha-what's your name?" As I ask, I see the scar painted across his chiseled face. He scoffs,
"Redford, Blaze Redford, maybe you should get your act together and stop stuttering" He says, blunt as ever. I barely choke out,
"I-i-im just nervous" I bite my lip and look away slightly to not make eye contact with his piercing gaze.
"Well then maybe you shouldn't be here." He states coldly. Before I can say anything, the bell rings. As I make my way through the halls, awkwardly bumping into other cells making their way through, I can't find my class, the halls are empty as I look for my class.
"What are you doing out here?" I hear a deep suave voice call out. I panic slightly, I don't want to get in trouble on my first day. I turn and see a tall blood cell, his hair is slightly curled at the ends and his arms look muscular.
"I-i-im just lost, i'm trying to get to Left Ventricle: the basics of oxygen transportation, i'm n-new" I say as a blush creeps on my face, I make eye contact, his orbs stare softly in mine.
"Don't worry, I understand what it's like being new once, i'm not a teacher, just a hall monitor, i'll walk you" His voice calms me. Before I enter the class, I ask him
"Do you think I will get in trouble?" I wonder.
"No, you'll be fine, Ms. Macrophage is one of the good ones and by the way, my name's Flame, I'll see you around Scarlett." He states calmly as if he knows the blush that's been on my face was for him. I enter the classroom and apologize to the teacher for being late. I take my seat near the front. The girl next to me is wearing her hair in twin braids and has a bunch of beaded bracelets on, she turns to me.
"Are you new! I'm guessing that's why you were late, if you want I'll walk you to your next class!" She states with enough energy for the both of us.
"Yeah, i'm new, thanks for the offer, i-i think i'll take you up on that" I say trying to seem as cool as if i could be, i know im not because i like reading.
"Perfect!" she exclaims, "My name is Ruby, i'll take you to the next class, as my new best friend!" We spend the class pretending to listen to the teacher as I tell her how my first day was and she tells me about how the school works. When the bell rings we get up together. As we make our way through a capillary in the semilunar valve I mention my encounter with Blaze Redford.
"The Blaze Redford, how could you have not mentioned that, I can't believe he let you sit next to him" She exclaims, startling me a little.
"What's so special about Blaze, seems kind of scary to me" I say.
"The Redford family is one of the oldest and richest families in the body, they have connections going back to the womb. Blaze is a notorious jerk, he shuts out everyone and gets in a lot of fights, some rumors say that he is secretly a leukocyte." Ruby explains. We enter Aorta: functions of the Heart 102, once Ruby and I find our seats we go over the rest of the schedule for the day. The class seemed to go on forever but I didn't mind. Some of the girls in the back weren't paying attention and playing with hairs and makeup or whatever, but the teacher kept on calling on me for the answers, lucky I read and knew the answers or that would be embarrassing.
"Hey, do you understand question three on the worksheet" I turn to see a boy with red spheres which look down into mine, his smirk makes me blush.
"I'm not just going to give you the answer" I say, uncharacteristically.
"I didn't ask for the answer, but maybe you could teach me" The words dripped from his mouth.
"My names Flynt, maybe we could meet in the library or my house sometime" I can feel the heat rushing my face with the more he speaks, I can barely hold my own.
"Maybe, if I have time but I usually don't entertain players" I can't even believe I am saying the words that are leaving me involuntarily, he must think I'm so rude.
"Okay, I like the fire you're spitting, I'll see you later, bunny" He says, tempting me. The bell rings, Ruby who was watching this tragic encounter takes me by the hand and drags to safety, away from Flynt. But she took me to a new horror, the lunch room. On our way through the ventricles, I am stopped by three of the girls from my last class.
"Hey new girl, we saw you talking to Flynt, just thought we would warn you, he's mine! So you better back off or else we'll make your life here hell." She laughs, as she looks down to me, with her friends she passes me bumping into my shoulder.
"Ouch, w-we were just f-friends." I state.
"And you think i would be okay with that, I run this school, you obviously are stupid and ugly and don't know who i am so i'll say it for you, i am Red, don't cross me." She leaves spinning on her heels.
"Are you okay?" Ruby turns to me.
"Yeah, i-i guess" As I look at Ruby, I can see a figure closing the distance behind her, towards me. I noticed Flame, the hot hall monitor who helped me find my second class earlier.
"That was a bloody encounter, are you okay love" Flame's words comforted me, but I could only feel myself getting more nervous in his proximity. He is reaching his hand out to help me up, I shakily reach out. I can't believe I am holding his soft hand.
"Th-tha-thanks" I say, biting my lip with a soft smirk.
"Have you too met?" Ruby asks, slightly confused.
"Yes, I led her to her second hour when she got lost in the hall" Flame states.
"Y-you know m-me, a total mess" I responded.
"Cute really" Flame says, slightly under his breath but still enough for us to hear.
"I should get to my table before my friends start to think I've died, goodbye love." Flame leaves with his statement. I look at Ruby wondering where I am going to sit but she is looking at me in slight shock.
"You, your friends with Flame" Ruby said in astonishment.
"Umm I guess, he helped me to my class this morning but I don't know. '' I say, I don't know why Ruby is acting like we are best friends with Flame or whatever. We don't say much as we make our way through the cafeteria getting some candied fruits and milkshakes for glucose. As we walk to a table I can't help but notice a figure in the back of the cafeteria, sitting alone with a dark aura. It's Blaze, I look over to meet his brooding gaze and it seems he has been staring at me the moment I walked in, watching me. When I make eye contact he abruptly leaves making a slight commotion, I hope i didn't upset him.
Ruby introduced me to her friends, twins, Crimson and Carmine. I left to go to the bathroom and as I was leaving i see Blaze with one of the girls who pushed me down in the halfway at the start of lunch. I try to avoid them as they were smashing their face together but the girl stops and sees me, oh no.
"Well, well, look what the cat dragged in, fresh meat, what are you doing over here? Trying to do more stealing!" She says, giggling menacingly in my face. I remember her name from attendance, Rose, but I don't dare to say it out loud as her orbs stare at me like darts ready to kill.
"No.. i-it's not-like that, i just wanted to use the bathroom, im sorry" I say trying to slowly step away to not provoke her. But it's too late, she slaps me across the face, it hurts.
"Whatever loser, leave!! Before I do it again." She exclaims. But the I hear Blaze
"Babe, chill, she is just some dumb loser, let's get away before she attracts any pneumococcus" He says it with a growl, now glaring into my soul, he is protecting me, I can't help blush and bite my lip as i take in his tall frame and chiseled body.
"Fine, I have better things to do anyway," Rose says with a preppy inflection. I take my chance to leave back to the lunch room but before I enter the doors I turn to take one last glance at the jerk who saved me, Blaze Redford.
