Back at the lunch room table, I am sitting with my new friends.
"What took you so long?" Ruby asks.
"An encounter with one of Red's minions, again" I say as I slump into my chair.
"That's tough, would you want me to do something about it?" Carmine says her mom is the principal of Heart High.
"N-no, i-i wou-wouldn't want to get Blaze in trouble" I say.
"Wait, you didn't mention Blaze was there!" Crismon says concerned, probably noting Blaze's reputation as 'nothing but trouble'.
"Yeah, it was, umm. He was with Rose but he got her away from me." I say as I turn my head tucking a piece of hair that fell in front of my face behind my ear. Lunch was still tense after that moment when I was looking around the cafeteria. I saw Flame and Flynt, though on the opposite sides of the room, both looking at me. When the bell rang, Crimson offered to take me to class, we both had Inferior Vena Cava: Crossing the Capillaries 101. We separated to get change in the locker rooms and I got incredibly lucky, though two of Red's minions were in my class. They were too busy looking in the mirror and forging doctor's notes to get out of running the mile even though it's our job to keep circulating. After awkwardly getting changed into my gym uniform I met back up with Crimson to run together. Keeping a brisk jog so Coach T doesn't yell at us Crimson starts to talk to me.
"I know you're new, but I feel like I can trust you." Crimson says, hopefully and a little bashful.
"Of course, what's up?" I say. It seems he has some secret, but what could he tell me that he doesn't feel safe telling Carmine or Ruby?
"I have feelings for someone and every time they're around I feel butterflies, but I don't know what to do about it," Crimson says as his name starts to match his cheeks.
"I may not know much but if you really care for this cell you should tell them how you feel, better to know then to spend the rest of your questioning." I say, when I hear this an image of Blaze's scar crosses my mind, but also... Flame's soft orbs staring into mine, and even the stupid smirk on Flynt. Crimson told me that he would confess on Friday after school but I can tell he is nervous because it is Wednesday. I went to my next class, Right Ventricle: The Logic of the Heart 103. I didn't have any of my friends in this class because this is an advanced class usually taken by Juniors. When I walk into the class I see a boy raising his hand to call me over...its...Flame! I go sit next to him, shyly.
"So, how has your day been, this being your last class?" Flame asks.
"It's been well, umm... I didn't think I would know anyone in this class, since it's for juniors." I state.
"Well, lucky you have me, I'm a junior, after all only juniors and seniors can be hall monitors" Flame states. He continues to speak,
"Good job on getting in this class, it sure will help you from falling beneath the grade threshold." Flame says while jotting down some of the teachers' lectures into notes.
"The-th-threshold?" I stutter, not understanding what he is speaking about.
"Are you telling me that you enrolled into Heart High not knowing anything about how it works? Woah, you really are something to love!" Flame stated.
"I- I still don't know what you mean?" I say, only being able to imagine the thoughts behind his beautiful Burgundy orbs. Then his angelic voice speaks,
"Those in the bottom 500 of academics and extracurriculars you'll be kicked out of school, the check is monthly which is why I thought you already knew."
"I mean, I knew the school was tough, but....I mean I'm not in any clubs. Wha-what if i get kicked out !?!?!?" I am shocked, I probably look so dumb in front of Flame, he is so much older and wiser than I am.
"Don't worry love, the club fair will be tomorrow! And I know you'll fit in just right." Flame says, calming me.Author's Note: Sorry this was such a short chapter 😭😭😭😭
