The next day was magical. For breakfast, Rory fixed us waffles, strongly flavoured with vanilla and coated with sugar soaked in sweet strawberry syrup and Nina handed out freshly baked chocolate chip cookies with a mug of rich and creamy hot chocolate. I savoured each bite of everything and sipped my drink slowly, the chocolate oozing around my teeth and tongue and the frothy cream slipping down my throat.
The next amazing thing that happened was that a couple wanted to adopt Violet. It was surreal. No one could believe she would be chosen out of everyone. The couple looked rich and posh.
The woman had a string of pearls around her neck with matching pearl earrings and a mocha silk dress. Her nails were perfectly manicured with french tips and her hair looked expensively done- a long beige bob. As for her makeup, her plum red lipstick was perfectly set, matching her cherry-pink eyeshadow. Her eyelashes looked done by a professional and I envied her flawless skin.
Her husband didn't look less rich. He had his hair gelled back, he was cleanly shaved with an expensive looking watch. He wore a silk tie and smart suit and several pound notes and bank cards were seen through his clear phone case on his iPhone Pro Max.
Violet couldn't stop bragging about it. I suppose they chose her because she had a graceful air. Violet looked like a model- long shiny dark hair in waves with a part of her outgrown fringe hiding one of her eyes. Her Asian eyes were big and brown, like Bambi's and she was tall and slim with very skinny legs.
As soon as the couple took her away, everyone smiled; no one ever appreciated her snakey personality. Even Liv was thrilled. She had started getting closer to me like before, visiting my room, talking and watching films together.
I guess Nina was happy about it as well. She asked Rory for a special dinner that day. He prepared for us a special roast chicken with creamy mashed potatoes and roast potatoes. It was laid out on the table beautifully- everyone's plate had a lavish helping of chicken, three big crispy roast potatoes, a creamy spoonful of mash with a coat of thick gravy. Each plate was decorated with sprigs of broccoli and a handful of green beans. My plate was wiped clean with my knife and fork.
Dessert was lovely as well: an ice cream sundae. On the top was a lovely strawberry scoop of ice cream decorated with a cherry and strawberry sauce. In the middle was a lovely vanilla scoop with gummy bears and at the very bottom, was a squashed chocolate scoop of ice cream folded into Nutella spread and I had found a surprise chocolate brownie.
Later that day, I was on the phone with Layla then I was invited to Liv's room to watch a movie on her laptop.
Life continued like this for ages, even when it was time to go back to school in September. The beginning of year eleven. We were told this was a very serious year filled with exams but also our last year in high school so we had to make the most of it.
"I expect you to take this year seriously," said Mr Bramley, our new form teacher. "Absolutely no bunking off your lessons. Get to your lessons on time without a fuss and concentrate. Your GCSE exams will commence in the spring and then you will leave to do whatever you want. Also, make the most of it. This is your last year of highschool."
I shivered in excitement. After high school I would be able to do anything I want.
Overall, life was amazing. Until October the thirty-first.
