makes it harder
"out."
"but mom-"
"i said out!" she yells, completely silencing you. "pack a bag. fill it with as much as you can, and get the hell out of my house."
"where am i gonna go?" you plead.
"i don't know. and i don't care." she turns away from you, slamming the door to her bedroom as you breakdown in tears. you run up the stairs, instantly dialing felix's number as you frantically looked for the biggest bag you own.
"hey— how'd it go?" felix answers. you only cried in response, telling him it did not go well. but he assumed as much. "i— i'm coming over to get you. don't worry." he states, you could only nod, despite him not being able to see you. you couldn't even get it out to ask how his parents took it. the two of you decided to tell them at the same time, the day after graduation.
so little did you know, felix had been kicked out as well. he was holding onto the last bit of hope that your mom wouldn't kick you out, so that the two of you could have somewhere to stay. but unfortunately, that wasn't the case. so as he drove to your house, he called up all of his friends, practically begging if any of them had a place for them to stay. and it was fail after fail. most of his friends going to college, no one had time to take them in. until felix called his older friend, the last resort.
"chan? i... i need a favor..." felix's voice trembles over the phone, immediately alerting chan.
"what's up? everything okay?" chan asks.
"no... things are... very bad." he tells him. "i fucked up. she's pregnant."
"oh shit..." chan didn't even have to ask him to know who he was talking about. of course it was you.
"we're both getting kicked out chan... we have no where to go..." felix hated asking people for things. but what other choice did he have?
"come to mine. i'll clean up the guest room." chan replies without hesitation. he was older than the two of you, a junior in college, living in his own apartment.
"are you sure?" felix asks.
"of course. it's not a problem at all."
"o-okay... we'll be there soon." and with that, felix ends the call, simultaneously pulling into your driveway. felix's heart broke as he watched you walk out the front door, pulling a suitcase behind you, your arms holding as much as you could, tears gliding down your cheeks. he instantly got out of his car to help you, grabbing your things from your hands, leading you to the car.
"how'd it go with your parents?" you finally ask him. he only shook his head, causing you to cry a little harder. you didn't know where you could go now.
"but don't worry... we're going to chan's for now." he tells you, giving you just a little bit of relief.
"is he okay with it?" you ask.
"he said he was." felix shrugs, throwing your suitcase into the backseat. "when we get there i'm gonna start looking for a job, and we-"
"a job? what about school?" you knew it was a stupid question. school was off the table for you right now.
"we'll have to put that on the back burner for now." he shrugs, but you didn't miss the sadness in his voice as he helped you into your side of the car before running back over to the drivers seat.
"god, felix... what are we gonna do?" a rhetorical question. mostly a cry for help. you felt so lost.
"don't worry... i'm sure i can get a job at the dance studio. they love me there." he tells you, actually having a little bit of confidence in his tone. but what about you? you didn't have connections like felix did.
"i don't know where i could work." you tell him. you knew that the both of you would need to work if you could even think about affording even half of the things you would need to raise this child.
"i mean, you're good at baking. you could start a small business, selling your baked goods." he suggests.
"way to go, naming my most expensive hobby." you chuckle dryly.
"right..." he trails off. "maybe you can get a job at the gas station to help fund it?"
"yeah... maybe..." he shrugs.
"we'll talk about it more at chan's, okay? get some rest, he's a bit of a drive." he pats your thigh, starting the drive to chan's apartment. things were about to start changing very quickly, and you weren't sure if you were ready. but with felix by your side, you felt optimistic that things wouldn't totally go wrong.
but you were realistic. and no matter what, it wasn't going to be easy.
luckily, you were willing to do whatever it takes.
