A/n: Wow, three chapters in one day. I'm amazing, am I not? This is a short chapter, and I'm pretty sure there are no TWs, but you may have to prepare yourself for the shock of Kyros and Adira being civil human beings to each other... sorta. Enjoy!

Adira found that it was quite difficult to sleep with the thought of hunting a killer the next day. Eventually, she managed, but even when she did fall asleep, she felt restless.

The next morning, she woke earlier than she normally would. Getting up, she got dressed, strapped a gun holster and the gun itself to her waist, and tucked a knife into her boot. She even secured a small hair clip with a blade hidden in it to her hair, just in case. Looking in her mirror, she thought she looked pretty badass. Even if that didn't matter, at least she was equipped for the mission ahead.

Slipping quietly out of her room, Adira went to the living room to discover Kyros was already awake and seated on the couch with Ghost on his lap and a cup of coffee in his left hand, which was gloved. His right hand, also still wrapped with a black glove, stroked the content cat. Kyros stared intently at the circled spot on the map. Two buildings had been marked.

"Hey," Adira greeted quietly. Kyros' head snapped up to look at her. Clearly, he had been a little lost in his head. "Are you ready for today?"

"Ha. Believe me, I am practically jumping with joy for the chance to kill this jehnduhun," Kyros smirked.

"Hard to picture you jumping for joy about anything," Adira chuckled.

"I'm jumping for joy in my own way," Kyros shrugged. For the first time ever, his intensely blue eyes were not staring at her as if she were the enemy.

"I bet. If you were to get excited about anything, I suppose it would most likely be something like this. Something morbid and scary."

"You say scary, I say thrilling. C'mon. Let's get everyone else up. We should get started."

For a moment, Kyros looked almost... human. He hadn't seemed like the devil that he usually was. But then he returned to his normal, cold self. As he got up to walk to the bedrooms, he purposely pushed his shoulder into hers, knocking her slightly off balance. Great. Right when I thought he might be a somewhat decent person sometimes. Adira followed him to the bedrooms and went to wake up Mavis. Surprisingly, Mavis was already up when Adira entered.

"Couldn't sleep?" Adira asked. Mavis pulled on her shirt and nodded.

"I mean, it's kind of hard to sleep when your brain can't do anything except prepare for what we may have to do."

"Yeah, I get that. I feel the same. Alright, let's... let's go hunt a 'queen.'"
