"Grandfather, I do not wish to be the sole inheritor of the Gojo Conglomerate, I have devoted 26 years of my life walking on the path you set for me, never questioning or objecting to your demands perhaps it was because I had no dreams of my own and even now I don't. But at least there is a thought.""And what is that thought?"
"To live."
"Have you not been living? being born in this family, one can only dream Satoru-kun."
"Grandfather, I do not expect your understanding neither do I want to meet your expectations, I very well understand the repercussions of my actions. I would neither seek the refuge of the Gojo family ever again nor I would seek my share in the family."
"Very Well, you are now no more a part of the Gojo Family, as for your share, you won't have any ownership over the shares of the company. But there is one thing you shall inherit because it does not belong to the Gojo Family rather to your mother."
"My mother?"
"She owned a villa in Tokyo, that she in her will named yours. So you shall solely inherit it and about your Secretary have you informed him?"
"There is nothing to be informed, Nanami works for the Gojo family, not for me grandfather."
"Then let me ask you one thing Satoru-kun, you realize you've made many enemies being a part of this family?"
"I do realize it grandfather, now it's my responsibility how I will handle that situation, rest assured."
"Then that marks the end of our dialogue, you may leave." Satoru bowed down in respect and left without any more words. His footsteps echoed through the conference room, yet he didn't turn back once.
"Sir, I shall accompany you to Tokyo." Spoke a man dressed in a formal beige suit, underneath a navy blue shirt and a peculiar patterned tie. His demeanor exuded elegance and precision. Gojo faced him, it felt as if he had never seen the man's face before. It took Gojo a good two seconds before he could come up with a reply.
"Nanami, I hope I don't need to remind you but you work for the Gojo family and not for me, I am no longer a part of this family there is no need for you to address me using honorifics, head back to your position, You are now appointed as the personal secretary of my cousin, Yuta Okkotsu."
"Sir, I have no qualms with the position, I shall head back to the Okkotsu Estate after I am formally informed of my reformed position. As of now, I am your Personal Secretary." Nanami was a man of stature and substance, he knew his responsibilities and position, He wouldn't dare go in opposition to the family head. Gojo sighed and slightly nodded in agreement.
"I really can't argue with you." Gojo let out a soft laugh as he recalled the past incidences of Nanami winning arguments against him. This sight was sheer novelty to Nanami, to him Gojo was the epitome of excellence and indifference, how come giving up his entire life can make him so free? But Nanami shrugged off his doubts and followed his boss.
Both didn't engage in conversation until they reached the gateway, one footstep and one would be outside the Gojo family's head estate. Gojo halted his movements for a moment, yet with one swift movement he peered outside the estate. It was the time of sunset , the golden setting sunset glazed the family tree that embraced the amber leaves, the sight seemed beautiful to Gojo.
"So it's autumn." He spoke to himself, his sublime azure eyes enclosing to engulf themselves in the soft embrace of the breeze. Nanami again was at a loss for words, Gojo's unusual behavior struck him repeatedly like lightning.
"Sir, the car is here." Nanami's words brought Gojo back to reality. Gojo turned back slightly to take a look at the estate since it was going to be the last time here, he was never coming back. He finally managed to walk on his own two feet.
"Goodbye." Gojo said as he entered the opulent Rolls Royce Phantom, Nanami ensuring he entered the car, he then shut the door subtly. And made his way to the opposite side of the car and sat next to Gojo.
"To Tokyo." The driver nodded in agreement.
"Sir, this estate is a family hand me down, it belonged to the first generation of Kambe Household, but your mother got it renovated when she married your father. So it should be in spic and span condition. We won't require additional changes."
"There is no need for that. I'm not going to be living there." Nanami shifted his gaze to Gojo looking perplexed.
"I'm sorry sir?"
"Don't be, I am not living there I'm just going to take a quick look."
"Sir where are you planning to live instead? It's an opulent villa excluding it's size, it's a family treasure. It's renovated by your mother herself, she had expensive taste, it has to be a house fit for your stature."
"If I wanted to live like before, why would I leave the Gojo estate? I don't want to live the same life I did before. I'm going to remove my self inflicted shackles one by one, and by the way I won't live alone. I'm going to find a roommate." Nanami was enraged.
"Sir pardon my impudence, but sir leaving the family doesn't change the fact that you are the heir to the Gojo family, sharing a room with someone who's not of your stature doesn't suit well." Gojo let out a loud giggle, as if he was humored by the mere suggestion of him being this big shot with expensive and picky taste.
"Nanami you're a hilarious guy, just do what I say. Find a vacancy somewhere in Tokyo, I'm sure you can do it." Nanami clenched his fists, it was hurtful to see someone like Gojo Satoru being brought to this condition.
"Understood Sir." Gojo diverted his gaze to the amber trees that seemed like they were sprinting with him. Gojo felt as if all the burden had been magically lifted from his shoulders, at least one shackle of the 'Gojo Family' was off his shoulders.
If this is how beautiful autumn is, I wonder how beautiful spring would be?
