"Now I'm calling you a wet blanket." Matteo slurred as I buckled him into the passenger seat of his car. "Uh-huh." I said as I put the strap over his shoulder. He tried to push me off and get out. "Matteo, stop." I said sternly, he rolled his eyes. "I'm not a baby, Theo. I can take care of myself."
"Come on, Mr. Perfect. Lets get you home." He grumbled. "Don't call me that...". I rolled my eyes and smiled at him as I shut the door and walked around the car. I opened the door a hoisted myself into Matteo's Jeep. "I fucking hate your car, Matteo." I grumbled, he hot defensive. "Be nice to my baby!" He put a hand on the dashboard. "He didn't mean it, pretty girl."
I patted his arm, "You're a very articulate drunk. I'll give you that." He grumbled at me. I chuckled and backed out of the driveway.
As we were driving, Matteo was slurring his non-sense speech. I listened and nodded along. "Vivian has a girlfriend. Did you know that?" I nodded. "Yes, I did." Matteo sighed. "I'm glad she does. I was afraid she liked me." I looked over at him for a second, then back to the road. "What do you mean?"
Matteo blew past my question and started ranting about something else. "And another thing, did you know my sister is pregnant?" With how wasted he was, it sounded like he said 'pergant'. I stifled a laugh before responding. "No, I didn't. How is she?" He grumbled about his sister for a while before he quieted down.
After about 10 minutes, I heard soft snoring. I smiled, "Matteo?" I looked over at him for a second. It looked like he was sleeping. I turned back to the road and continued to drive. We were gonna be on the road for a little while longer.
After a while, we were nearing my apartment and I heard Matteo stir in his sleep. "No..." I looked over at him, he was still fast asleep. I looked back at the road and heard him mumble again. "Theo...?"
"Yeah, bud?" I looked back over and he was still asleep. I wonder what he was dreaming about. "I'm... Sorry...." I heard him mumble, and I didn't look over this time because I knew he was still asleep. "What are you dreaming about, bud?" I asked quietly.I pulled into my complex's parking lot and turned off the car. I leaned over and patted his arm. "Let's go, Mr. Perfect." He shifted and protested in his sleep. I chuckled and git out of the car. I walked around and opened his door. "Holy shit!"
Matteo slowly fell out of his seat towards me and his seatbelt caught him. He stirred but didn't wake up. "How can you sleep through that?" I asked as I pushed him back in the car to unbuckle him.
After I got him unbuckled, i gently shook him. "Matteo, dude, you gotta get up. I can't carry your fat ass." He stirred and rolled over away from me. "Rude..." He grumbled. "Oh, good. You're up. Let's go, come on."
He grumbled and sat up. He swung his legs out of the car and hopped down, nearly making us both fall. "Happy?" He asked sarcastically. "Very." I said with a smile. He grumbled more as we started walking.
When we got in my apartment he flopped on the couch. I got him water and a trashcan, and I sat next to him. "Drink the water please, Matteo." He protested for a few minutes but eventually he took a small sip. "Thank you."
He started to grumble, but halfway through, he leaned over and threw up in the bin. I patted his back gently. "Gross." I gagged. "Shut the fuck up, Theo." He growled. I smiled softly, "Sorry, sorry."
He leaned back on the couch and put a hand on his face, then ran it through his hair. "I've gotta stop drinking so much." He said to himself. I patted his arm, "Hey, I'm worried about you, Matteo." He turned to look at me and smiled halfheartedly "I'm fine, Theo."
