The television set emitted a shrill, piercing ring, slicing through the silence and signaling an announcement that gripped the nation. The sound echoed ominously, demanding attention. On the screen appeared a bald figure, stoic, with an ordinary-looking wolf picture behind him, its canines bared in unsettling silence.

"Ladies and gentlemen, your attention is needed," the figure's voice echoed coldly. "Reports have surfaced of wolves among us—but not the kind you know. This is no false alarm."

As the figure spoke, the wolf in the background flickered into a video—a boy, bound, his dark purple eyes gleaming with an otherworldly intensity, his face twisted in agony.

"What you see is no ordinary boy," the figure continued, his tone sharpening. "He is the offspring of a werewolf, neither fully human nor fully wolf. Under the orders of the U.S. Army, you are required to report anyone with eyes of unnatural color. These individuals are dangerous and must be contained."

The screen flickered again, this time revealing the boy being lashed with a whip. His eyes flashed a deeper purple as fur sprouted, dark brown and wild, replacing his human form. The creature, bound by a thick rope around its neck, submitted to the brutal strikes—its suffering laid bare for all to witness.

It was here that the era of wolven slaves began.

Reports came in from all over the world as more and more of these half-lings rose up to defend their kin. And as they were captured and underwent studies, humans began to learn of the supernatural world that lived under their noses.

These werewolves were discovered to not be the mythological kind that only transform under a full moon; they have evolved into a species that can shift between human and wolf forms at will or under extreme duress. Born of both human and lupine blood, they possess distinct physical traits that set them apart from regular humans, most notably their eyes, which glow in unusual, vibrant colors like purple or neon hues. This eye color is a genetic marker, a clear sign of their supernatural nature.

In human form, they look mostly normal, though stronger and more agile than the average person. In their wolf form, they are far more formidable, with heightened senses, superhuman strength, and the ability to communicate in ways regular wolves cannot. Despite their abilities, they have been labeled dangerous by the human authorities, who see their potential for destruction as something to be feared and controlled.

For the wealthy and powerful, werewolves became a commodity, traded like luxury items. They were sold to serve as personal guards, bodyguards, or status symbols in the homes of the elite. Others were forced into more degrading roles as servants, slaves, or even entertainment, with their strength and endurance exploited for brutal fights or dangerous labor. Silver, discovered to be their kryptonite, became a tool of control, with silver chains, collars, and weapons ensuring that no werewolf could escape their captors.

The wealthy prospered, the poor clawed their way up, and a new order emerged. Even true wolves, once revered, were hunted to near extinction, mistaken for their cursed cousins and turned into trophies.

However, rumors persist that not all werewolves have been caught. Some believe that a few still roam free, hidden in plain sight, waiting for the moment when they can strike back or reclaim their place in the world. This belief fuels the ongoing hunt by bounty hunters and adventurers, who seek these elusive treasures in the hope of profit or glory.

However, through the struggles over the centuries, the world is divided between those who seek to control the werewolves and those who believe in their right to freedom.

But sometimes, the greatest danger is the one hiding in plain sight.
